I would imagine assistant coaches bringing recruits with them are rare. I also think you should factor that Pope is very choosy about who he brings in, as well. The “we are Kentucky” negotiation stuff is from an authentic place for Pope, for better or worse. I think, right now, we have a lot of guys auditioning for next years roles as we speak. Can’t imagine we know who/where to go heavy until some of the smoke clears there.
Anyone who thinks Pope doesn’t have some plan A, B, and C stuff going on regarding recruiting players for next season is not thinking clearly
Whew, hope so. But he was all in on many of those recruits and they all said no. Which has never happened at Kentucky, I might add.
We don’t recruit for plan C’s across the board at UK. That’s Tennessee, Georgia, and the Vandy’s of the world. We land many plan A’s take a few plan B’s and plan C’s will get you fired. So I don’t know.
How do you know thay was plan A and B? He may have certain stars in mind from the portal as plan A
I think at this point it’s clear he expects a lot of returnees off this years squad. Will land 1-2 HS kids and fill in the needs in the portal, probably land one portal stud. He doesn’t foresee a rebuild the roster year this off season.
