Is there a timeline on Butler?

Most doctors estimate two weeks to return to basketball from a typical ankle sprain, with the rationale being to prevent further injury. But it seems guys return much sooner all the time. Saturday would only be 12 days sitting out for Butler, but he would have a full week off after that. Does that make it even more likely they let Butler give it a go on Saturday?

Robinson can handle it again. Perry can use that Kentucky boy fire about this rivalry to maybe have some quality minutes.

Perry was fighting to guard his man, I'll give him credit for effort. I do think he is slow footed and lacks lateral quickness. Their guards just blew by him.
I'm hoping his shot starts to fall. He's too good a shooter for him to stay in this slump.

Was hoping everyone (seems that way) was wrong and he’d do ok last night. I guess not though.
His main problem, to me, is that he just can't keep up or stay with his man. He is easily beaten off the dribble anytime his man wants to go by him. He's supposed to be a great shooter but I think he's putting too much pressure on himself right now and just can't buy a basket from outside even when he's totally open. This will be a big leaking and adjustment year for Perry to see if he can truly play at this level maybe next year.

Too many (typical) summer reports that "this kid NEVER misses!" and whatnot. Well, yeah, neither did Josh Carrier.

I want to see Perry do very well at UK but I thought last night proved he really isn't ready for the speed and quickness at this level just yet.
I didn’t see a deficiency with speed and quickness. What I saw was him missing wide open looks from three. He’s probably pressing too much knowing that if he doesn’t make them he’s back on the bench. His size (for a guy without super quickness or hops) will be a negative factor going forward, though.

He’s a traditional college freshmen. 18-19 and playing against 22-23, sometimes 24-25 year olds. Not basing any future successes for him off of this season. There’s a reason Purdue wanted him so bad.

Truth. I think most logically thinking folks knew he (and Noah and Chandler) would need at least a year. They get a ton of reps in practice obviously, and that's where they'll get better this year. Nothing wrong with that.

Not sure if Perry’s speed/quickness is as much an issue as overthinking or even a little out of control. Game will have to come to him. Noah seems to have a confidence level that might make him a sooner contributor. Chandler hasnt played organized ball in two years. He has great physical tools but he has to relearn the game.

You really didn't notice a deficiency in quickness when he was on defense? I specifically watched his defense because I heard that was a real concern. I felt it was very obvious the way he couldn't keep up and guard anyone at all. I did notice the missed shots you mentioned too.

We will blow Louisville out of the building without Butler.

Let him heal.

No game for a week after Sat. He will be 100% for Ohio St.

We won’t need him then either to win. But once well he needs to play.

Yeah that’s what I saw. Noah was noticeably better on defense though not great. I think offensively he will eventually get where he needs to be. I’m not worried about the missed shots. He has only taken seven 3s and five 2s. He seems to have good awareness on offense, plays with his head up. But I hope he really commits to getting better on defense. He can’t play much right now.

That's just a ridiculous take. He's our best defensive player, he's our point guard, he gets to the rim better than anybody on the team. He will be missed big time if he's not playing in the next two games.

He got mauled on screens and went under on almost all of them. I give the kid props for fighting. He tried to swipe at every ball near him.
He needs to make a couple buckets and learn the D but he's a gamer. I think he will end up being pretty good. His shots will start to fall. I noticed he missed a couple shots and the had an open shot he passed up. That will get better. He can contribute in the right situations. But quick guards will be hard for him until he gets stronger. He will improve.

I agree with the idea he will improve and get better but disagree with where he is on defense. He got beat continuously one on one as he can't match the quickness and experience of older players. He just isn't there. My point is that he is currently too slow and inexperienced. I don't feel the screens are all the problem as I saw him get beat off the dribble numerous times. He is a young kid against men and will take his lumps. Just hope he can improve his lateral moves on defense and not always get behind his man. I'm pulling for him but just don't see him as a real contributor this season. And, hope I am wrong.

It's also a lot easier to relax when you're getting playing time with a big lead. He didn't have that to work with.

Totally agree with what you say and that was my point. The other poster seems to not see the same defensive deficiencies.

That would be a ridiculous take. If that was what I said. Since it wasn't what I said then you are just arguing to be arguing.

Are you happy that we didn't blow out Colgate?

The point is, we couldn't blow out 2 win Colgate without butler. We haven't blown any high level team out yet (Duke, Gonzaga and clemson)Clemson. Granted, UL isn't on those teams levels and it's at home and they have their own injuries to worry about.

No reason to rest butler if he is cleared medically though. We need him to have a chance to blow out UL IMO.

And it was strange because I was watching specifically how he would guard verses Zags. I know he played limited minutes but surprised me that he held his own. How he did that against Zags & looked stuck in mud against Colgate was puzzling.
