Is there more defense going on than in years past?

There have been more lopsided scores this season than I can ever remember. And real low scoring for both teams too,
Discuss.

The lopsided scores have to do with scheduling. Power conference teams do not play as many difficult games OOC as they used to. They cherry pick bottom feeders to try and ring up wins before January. The lopsided games pretty much stop once conference play starts.

And there's more fouling going on than ever, without much of it being called, along with teams generally playing at a very slow pace. That's why scoring is at a record low.

I sometimes think that kids are getting more "athletic" and less "skilled" kinda alludes to Kobes comments on AAU a while back... I also think that teams are more willing to play zone and college teams have trouble against zones sometimes... This season defense is definately the calling card for the top tier teams, UVA, UK, Wiscy, Louisville, Duke is just never that good at defense it seems though... I think shooting % and shot selection seems to get lower and lower every season...

Even in the NBA, I remember watching Western Confernce games in middle and high school and the scores would be like 134-129 all the time it seemed like
