Is this our best NC performance of modern era?

10-2 hopefully 11-2. Quality wins vs. Wake, Texas and Dayton and competitive (yes heartbreaking) losses to two top 25 teams. No meltdowns vs. patsies (despite CSU close shave).

Is this not the 'Cats best Non-conference performance since well, ever? Positions us so that a .500 BT should get us dancing!

I think 58-59 was better. Only one loss and they beat WVU with Jerry West.

Didn't Byrdsong's first team have only one loss out-of-conference? I'm pretty sure they did, but the competition was generally laughable - especially compared to this schedule.

I've been around since that '93-'94 season, and I'm not sure I've seen a team dominate it's weaker OOC opponents like this one has.

It's hard to say at this point because we don't know how good the wins over Wake, Dayton, and Texas are going to look at the end of the year, but it certainly looks like a good year.

The 2010 team was the best I've seen in non-conference. Wins over Notre Dame, Iowa State, NC State, and Stanford; the only loss to Butler, who played in the national title game; blowout wins over everyone else. Ranked #25 in the AP poll headed into Big Ten season.

I think they were 9-0 non conference, then 5-13 in B10.

Yeah, that 2009-10 non-conference season wins by a nose. 11-1 was a surprising result to our non-conference schedule featuring some solid opponents, especially after Kevin Coble went down for the season after the exhibition game. And it is the only time in the last 48 years that we have been in the AP Top 25... Still, this season comes close. If we had held on to win against either Butler or Notre Dame, this season would definitely take the cake.

That was the first season my family had season tickets. We started 9-0, all or mostly against cupcakes (best win would seem to be by 19 at Texas A&M, but don't think they were very good then). Then Glen Robinson beat us with a late jumper to start a 9 game losing streak. After that we alternated wins and losses until the NIT. What a ride.

I would say 2009-10 was the best non-conference performance of the last 25 years. We beat #23 ND, Iowa State, NC State, and Stanford. The only loss was to #11 Butler.

If Coble hadn't gone down, that team was our best chance to make the NCAA in decades.
