Is this the core of next year's team?

To me, no disrespect to the other guys, it all starts with Otega.

Look at the top of the SEC and look at every team having an all conference returner. Otega is our only hope of that.

I’m very happy that Chandler seems to be returning as a depth piece. Garrison my thoughts probably depend on the overall plan for his role. But those guys are replaceable if we have to.

Pope told everyone before the year the most important thing would be roster continuity. He didn’t come to that conclusion on a whim. It is the single most important ingredient in championship programs and we can only increase there.
If that’s the case why didn’t he recruit more underclass men this season? If it’s about the future why do we start 4 grad transfers? Cal carried over some players each year. I want pope to be successful but he made a team for this season I think he knows like everyone else that you rule the portal or you suck. First thing is to not let your guys get poached. That’s why those guys are there. Not to mention Harrison and chandler had enormous games they typically don’t have

You are the dumbest person on this board. He has 3 freshman, Otega, BG, and KK, who all have the opportunity to at least come back. Winning this year is also important so he took good players that could make that happen.

What do you mean “if that’s the case”? I didn’t give you my opinion. I told you something Pope said. As far as why he went with the portal guys he did, he wanted to try to win a banner now. He got the best guys he could to do that for his first year.

I know BG needs a little work still, but you put Trent in that photo, and I'm loving that core!

Garrisson is the only one that concerns me. Garrisson can be good, and then he can be terrible. I would fell alot better if at the very least they went and got a big physical center like Florida has in chinyelu. Chandler is gonna be good, oweh with a better jumper is a all American.
I love BG's athleticism and is developing shot, but his decision making skills and toughness need to improve. If he can do that, then I will happily pencil him in at center. I think your logic is right though. Pope can't bank on that or expect Moreno to be dominant year one. I'd go out and get someone who is capable as a backup plan.

I can't believe that needs to be explained. But here we are.

Trent and Chandler are both guys who will contribute eventually. Chandler probably sooner than Noah, but Trent will get his time. Perry is the one I'm unsure about. Hard for me to see it currently.

Trent is pretty close, IMO. He just lacks the consistency. But I think a lot of that is just lack of consistent min. He gets thrown in a random times now. I don't disagree with you. Just think he'd shine a bit more with some consistency.

I'd love for Garrison to come back as a backup again next season and have Moreno be an emergency minutes guy, but not sure Garrison or his camp will want that. I'm not ripping on him, but he doesn't really protect the rim and has trouble against bigger, physical guys. He's only a sophomore and could still develop, but hopefully if he's the primary center we can get a bruiser PF to pair alongside him.

I’d feel better about Garrison if he were a freshman developing.
But he’ll be a junior next year with still very obvious flaws.

The thing with Garrison, while he isn't bad, he isn't 'Kentucky starter' good. So the question is; is he going to be ok being portaled over and come off the bench, or does he want a bag of cash and be a starter somewhere else? Now, maybe he loves Pope and Kentucky and will be ok with that role. IDK, but I tend to think this math isn't hard to figure out. Money + starting is a hard thing for a guy to pass up.

If Garrison comes back, I am not sure about him filling the Williams role in the offense. Just not as good at decision making. I think he may be better in Carr’s role. Pope hinted at this, I think, by saying he wanted BG to shoot more 3’s next season. BG is better off the ball than with the ball at the top of the key.

We need to get a 5 man that can pass, to run our offense through. Nick Davidson from Nevada is the Big in the Portal that stands out to me. 6’10, 240, nearly 3 assists per game (similar to Williams assist numbers).

Then if we can get a guy like Dedan Thomas from UNLV to run the Point for us, and add Josh Dix on the wing. That replaces Williams, Butler, and Brea. BG takes on the Carr role. Johnson replaces Robinson. Moreno takes over BG’s backup role. Lewis replaces Kriisa. Just need a backup PF to replace Almonor. Maybe the D2 kid, Freeman (SF, but with good size at 6’8 could fill that role).

PG Thomas/Lewis/Perry
SG Oweh/Johnson
SF Dix/Chandler/Noah
PF Garrison/Freeman
C Davidson/Moreno

And have 3 scholarships to add some long term guys. I would love to add Max Green and Gabe Dynes. Kentucky boys that can play D1 need to be on our roster, IMHO.

I think Garrison is better than the 3 we had under Cal's last season. He has the potential to improve. I hope he returns.

If you remember, Pope wasn't hired until mid April. Didn't have much of a chance to recruit freshmen to Kentucky for this past season.

For some reason i feel Garrison will transfer. (just a feeling) Love for him to stay and be a backup center. He does have a child so does he transfer to be closer to him ?

Perry is a bit concerning because the shot just hasn't been there at the rate it needs to be to offset his other deficiencies. He needs to be a 42-45% 3 guy and he's at 32%. Even Oweh is at 36% with that hitch in his shot. I think he can get there though, hope he sticks around knowing his role is still developmental.

I think Pope has been clear that he will give Garrison a green light to shoot more threes in the future so I took that to mean that he would be back. He has a whole summer to work on his game and I expect he will improve. I just hope he matures a bit as well because right now his decision making is not good.

Brother did you not notice when he took one the entire recruiting process was basically closed and the portal was basically shut? SQUID left him literally with nothing.
