That certainly how his UK coach would’ve dealt with this kind of effort:

But I’m not sure the woodshed treatment will still fly in today’s era of millionaire NIL babies with agents, lawyers and transfer portals to deal with.

Can't disagree.

Well let the babies transfer if they can't handle a little woodshed treatment................ This **** has gone on too long like 0-4 against teams with a pulse too long....

Pope needs to start the guys that hustle in practice, share the ball, dive after loose balls, get after rebounds, etc. I can take losing because you don't play well enough and the other team plays better. But just going through the motions and not giving effort is inexcusable. Let those guys ride the bench.

Exactly. Nothing is going to change if Pope doesn't change it. If that means putting our "best" players on the bench, then just do it. The fans could at least respect that.

Some fans would try to burn down Pope's house but I'd be more than okay with Pope pulling Hawthorne and Potter's redshirts and running Horn and Tow with the fifth spot being whoever shows the most effort in practice. Pull people off the floor when they show no effort or try and play hero ball and take bad shots. We might lose every game by 50, but we're already losing them by 30... And for Pope's sake, he needs to take some of the blame sure, but not all of it. Call your players out by name in the media, hold them accountable. They are paid professionals, F*** their feelings at this point.

I hope they all transfer at this point. We need a total overhaul of the locker room. Maybe Chandler, JQ, and Moreno/JJ if they develop consistent effort and not be selfish.

I would LOVE IT to hear Pope tell these guys **** Around Find Out in practice, or in-game. He's cussed before while here, give it to them. They're grown *** adults now making big-boy money.

Essential part of coaching is motivation. If u can't get your players to buy in and ready to battle then there's little to no chance.

Ask Reggie Hanson about effort or members of the Untouchables. Our fans don't care about wins/losses if you play your guts out.

Whether he knows the assignment or not, too many dogs are eating Pope's homework. Stop being a sulking biznitch and demand what you want. Nobody else's job/reputation is on the line so don't care about feelings or politeness. Show some heart and backbone and the players might.

Effort is non-negotiable period, it cannot be coached.

I cannot understand why players are not giving effort. There has to be dissension, personality conflicts, jealousy, maybe some are getting paid to perform poorly (not out of the realm of possibility).

Tough times demand tough action. If you have a physical ailment, you are encouraged to seek help immediately. Pope knows this medical truth and needs to apply it to this team. He needs to stop the bleeding as this season is on the brink of being a disaster. Bench, suspend, or dismiss the problem children. This is the remedy

I was kinda on board against my best judgement with Pope. I found it hard to think he was the right hire just because Mitch told us so, but swallowed my opinion. Pope had a good first year, not great. We beat some big teams, most of them weren’t at 100%. The fact that people are satisfied with 6th in the conference, and 1-8 in last 9 top 25 games is baffling. Especially with the money UK spent. Schools like Michigan opted for Dusty May, final four experience. Heck Pat Kelsey has won his conference 11 times. We get an unproven coach. Thanks Mitch

Issel was my childhood hero. But he needs to shut up or offer to help.
The beatings will continue until moral improves won't work.
It's playing time that will make them wake up or move on.
Maybe Issel could go see Pope and provide some advice, but stepping on Pope's throat ain't the answer.
I expect more from this team but I also expect more from him and Cuz. Especially if they are gonna just make open ended criticism.

Idk man, can you take a millionaire to the woodshed? Unfortunately, imo, those days are gone. Pope is gonna have to find another way to motivate these dudes to perform. I have no idea what that is.
