It is Time to Quit Being So Predictable

With an empty backfield it seems that 90% of the time Howard runs the ball and generally at best only makes a couple of yards. Even the announcers predict a run. Yet for the first time that I can remember he scored the winning TD with the Fullback and Running Back leading the way. Did it take all year to develop this simple play?

I don't like the empty backfield either. It just doesn't suit our personnel for running or passing.

It's best suited for spreading the field, employing a quick hitting short passing attack and getting the ball to playmakers for YAC. To run even a little out of it, the D has to respect your short passing game and it obviously helps to have a QB who can make people miss.
