Congrats to them. They did what they had to do to win it and it really doesn't matter how they won it. We had just as good an opportunity as they did. Maybe next year for us. OFC
Admire the way they've been able to keep guys around and develop players. Wish we would go back to doing the same.
I never thought Berry/Jackson/Meeks would be that good. Great growth from all three, especially Meeks LOL.

Yep exactly true! I remember some here saying that Carolina would be good and I laughed at them. I honestly saw no way they would be able to but was I ever wrong (as always) haha
They sure deserved it, played well when games got tight in the tourney.
Besides UNC, is there another team in the country that has had four five-star upperclassmen in the last five or six years? I'd say it's hard to say that's how you win consistently when there's really nothing consistent about it.
Not in a while but when they do they win. Every team outside of 2015 and 2012 did it in the history of the sport lol
Actually, going into 2015, Duke also had three five-star upperclassmen in Amile, Rasheed, and Quinn. In addition to that, Marshall was a four-star, fourth-year junior.
Yep so you're technically proving my point even more lol. You need upperclassmen they matter more in college basketball. If you have a continuous cycle of upperclassmen and frosh that'll stay coming in in today's game you'd lose little to none.
Yep, they got it done. They won and advanced. I would rather an ACC team win, even if it has to be UNC. They definitely have some upperclassmen ballers.

It helps when the officials help you in four of the six games. This team should have lost to Arkansas and then lost again vs Kentucky.
A reason why Duke is as good as it is, is because it's rival is as good as it is.

In that Arkansas game, UNC shot 25 free throws while only shot Arkansas' 8. I'm still waiting for there to be national outrage and for ESPN to put out their hater articles. But why would they do that? That would disprove the double-standard.
FYI Dukies, Gene Wojechowski during his tourney review last night stated "Duke face planted against So Car". The segment ran two mins and he didn't say one other negative word - nothing about Kansas choke or Nova losing to 8 seed. Woj clearly dislikes Duke and enjoyed taking a shot.
Truly amazes me how national media pundits hate a college program so much. Yankees, Pats & Cowboys are pros so rip them but don't go after college teams.

I refrained from coming on here last night. Didn't feel the need. Winning the natty didn't merit rubbing it in.
But I do have some thoughts on the game. And I'm gonna sound like Gary-7 here, but man that officiating was bad, for both teams. Yes I know they missed some stuff that benefited us, but as I've said before, sometimes you get those breaks, sometimes you don't. My biggest problem is that they weren't letting the kids play. These two teams are incredibly fun to watch when at their best, but you can't play your best when you breathe on a guy and get a whistle blown on you.
As for Roy, man I've criticized him a lot in the past, but as far as I'm concerned, he can stay as long he wants now. This latest title is the all the more impressive. He didn't have any Sean May's, Hansbrough's, Lawson's, or Raymond Felton's. But this team had real grit, and in the last 3 minutes they closed it out, and Berry was as clutch as they come. The buzzer beater last year certainly hurts less now.
Anyway, for all of you this was the worst season a Duke fan could have. But I don't expect a slide from you. Not with K at the helm and another top 5 recruiting class coming in. College basketball should be just as fun as it always has been.

Some of the media may not like Duke, but I think most of it has to do with the fact Duke sales. For as good as Kansas is and Villanova too, they don't hold a candle to the attention Duke gets. That is because of Coach K. I may not like everything he does, but he's a living legend, and it gives Everyone something to talk about, I mean Everyone.
I agree UNC had an excellent team that played together, and the inside/outside combo of talent + depth was superior.
However in regards to YPE's quoted comment I must agree. Even the most OBJECTIVE observer would have to agree his comment is on target reference "4 of the 6 games." This is exactly why I told someone before Gonzaga game the only way you're going to get 'em per this trend in the NCAAs, is way Duke got em in ACC Semis. You have to beat them fairly handily going away at game's end....

Did anyone hear that Wisconsin was playing for their 5th National Title back in 2015? And if they would have won I doubt you would have seen 5 time National Champions gear. As I stated on the main board, if you want to recognize a Helms with a banner at school and a ceremony that's cool. But to lump them all together as if they are equally significant and even add those titles to your NCAA Championship gear is pathetic.
