I think he’s still the best we have, and he’s been our most consistent player this season. He definitely needs to work on his hands and it kills me watching him on D because he plays with his hands down a lot and doesn’t use his size and length to his advantage.

Moreno has been REALLY bad the past few games, and his lack of strength has been on full display. He’s probably still our best option at center, but that says more about BG than it does about Moreno.

Moreno had some good games, but he’s gone backwards recently.

Perhaps Leroy Bird has eligibility remaining, put him in at the 5 spot. At least he would represent UK with pride....
Pope is soft and it shows in this team......

I’m all for using the bench for motivation and instruction at times, but it reaches a point where you can’t bench the whole team. We’ve stunk up the place all up and down the lineup tonight.

Moreno isn’t in great shape and also has probably hit the freshman wall. Will be up to him if he wants to put in the work in the offseason to get better conditioned. With the current disfunction of this program that’s tough to see happening.

The persistent pushes in the back with no call helped limit Moreno tonight.

How about mixing it up with the $3 million man sitting on the sidelines with a pretend “swollen” knee, that only “swells” when he slips in the mock drafts?

I mean, the thought crossed my mind…

Nothing good happens when he posts up, yet we continually try to feed the post.

Moreno needs to work on strength in the off season and toughness so that he is not pushed around as much. I believe he has significant upside if he puts in the work. I have no hope for Garrison at this point.
Oats made the point we don't pass out of the post, Moreno might get some guys a few open looks if he can do this.

We don't have a great option at center.........or power forward, or point guard, or shooting guard. You could argue we have a solid wing in Oweh. At his point play Moreno as much as you can and at least let him get experience. He is one of the few players I would bring back next year. I totally agree though his last couple games have been bad.

Dude, he's one of the bright spots of the season. Easily our best big and I think he need 25+ minutes every game for us to be competitive. He wasn't great last night but don't overreact.

Just plain lazy and not tough enough, he plays like he is 6'2
Not sure its an attitude thing but he just doesnt seem to get the level of energy it takes to play at this level sometimes. He plays lethargic, slow to react to everything. Yet he's shown sparks in other games getting steals etc where we know he can do it. Just has to learn that it takes max energy all the time at this level. Same with the others. They play 80% and think they are playing hard but they dont understand the HUGE difference it makes between 80% and 100% at this level. With the talent spread around today you play at 80% and mid level teams will eat your lunch.

I like Moreno and think he will get there and he is having a good year for a freshman. However if you are 7 feet tall you have to play with an attitude, you know slam someone’s head through the rim with the ball if they try to block your shot. You have to play mad or you will get pushed around, Jamal McGlorie NEVER got pushed around and was very effective. Moreno has to get meaner or he has topped out now.

If Moreno would simply use his shoulder to "hit" first after receiving the ball in the post he could probably develop into a real low post threat - even as a freshman. Until he does that it will almost literally be the same thing as a 6'4" guy trying to score in the post. You can't just turn and shoot in the post against Power Conference Bigs. Heck, a decent sized 2G can block Moreno's post ups currently. I think the hit first shoulder bump is the first thing Rick Barnes teaches every Big, and is one reason he can take a low-skilled strongman and make him relevant in the post - not a star, but relevant. From what I recollect Pope doesn't teach that - or maybe much of any post-up techniques - which seems odd for a guy who played Center.
