I know Mi Cocina wins most chains Tex Mex but I truly believe Gloria's is the best high end Tex Mex chain. I enjoy Mi Cocina and Uncle Julios but Gloria's is the bomb.

Gloria's is really Salvadoran.
I love meso maya, Gabriella and Sofia's, Lalos and Avillas. I also have a soft spot for Herrera's. It's old but always great.
Fuel city tacos is still my favorite taco place.
I probably had one of my favorite dining experiences at Gloria's. At any restaurants above an Outback or Applebee's I usually just tell the waiter to bring me an entree and let the server choose. I really like it when the server doesn't ask any questions and just decides what to bring me.
My experience at Gloria's was fantastic. When I told the server to "just bring me something good", he simply nodded and then turned his head and asked the next person their order. When he brought out our food he served me last. He handed me the plate and said his brother was one of the cooks and he asked his brother to make a dish that their mother used to make growing up. It wasn't on the menu and it was delicious. Needless to say, the waiter was well tipped that evening.
I think Mi Cocina is over-rated. Everyone raves about it, but I find it to be either Meh, or overpriced when I go there. Unfortunately, my family loves that place.
I agree, especially on overpriced, but I still think it's good.
Meso Maya way above the rest, but it's a little more true Mexican than true Tex-Mex.
Fernando's is probably in second place for us.
Gloria's is good, but as somebody else pointed out, they are Salvadoran.
Mattito's is a solid one too. Sunday brunch there is hard to beat. The "Bob Johnson" (not on the menu) dip is a must have appetizer.
Cantino Laredo is really bad. Surprised it was mentioned.

I realize Gloria's has a Salvadoran touch, they also serve true Tex Mex. Basically one side of the menu is Salvadoran and the other is Tex Mex.
Where is Fuel City? I have never heard of it. @squeak @Been Jammin
I've always liked Cantino Laredo. They actually have something beyond fajitas and enchiladas.
Uncle Julios and Herrars are both solid.
Don't really like MiCocina. Very limited menu. Overpriced and quick frankly not that good.
Gloria's as mentioned is not Mexican.
For actual Mexican instead of Tex Mex try Ojeda's. Disclaimer, I not a big fan as I like my Mexican Texasfied but everyone raves about how authentic it is. You should try it once and make up your own mind.
I have never been to Fuel City but the Street Taco places are now all the rage.
Not arguing the legitimacy of Gloria's having a Tex-Mex section but had it last week in Austin during SXSW and it was solid.
Come on, they're all pretty good. I've eaten at most if not all and they're popular for a reason.
We like Anamia's a lot, which has popped up in a lot of burbs and is solid. Chuy's is still my go-to Mexican, great vibe, unique dishes, reminds me of Austin.
Blue Goose also deserves some love. Mi Cocina is a few bucks more per dish and not sure that's valued, but it's still good.
We have eaten Tex Mex in DFW once a week for 25 years, so back TF off.

Like the others, it's solid. They go real on the onions in their cheese enchiladas, which gets my vote. Plus it's kinda old school, eating out in the 70's kind of Mexican, which I dig.
When mi cocino first opened, I thought it was some of the best I'd had. Like many franchises, I think the quality has suffered. Used to love uncle julios. We used to have meetings at a hotel right by live field. We'd eat at Bobs one night and uncle julios the next. Still think they have amazing salsa.

Pappasito's Cantina used to be all the rage. It's popularity seems to have dropped in recent years. My take good food but way overpriced.
Tupinamba Café is pretty good but not near as good as the aggie cult will try to tell you.
Mia's is old school Dallas but mostly famous for Jimmie and Jerry plotting the overthrow of Tom Landry there.

While it's not tex-mex, we were in FloMo last Sunday and ate at First Watch Cafe on Justin, and they had some reeeeeally good breakfast options.
Best in town for sure. More traditional mex then tex-mex, right?
Fast food twist. I use to like the place. For fast food I like Taco Casa the best. Taco Delight use to be my top fast food place.
It's amazing the disgusting food that kids love. I thought places like Casa Bonita and Pancho's were magical when I was a kid. Coming home from a baseball tournament the other weekend we asked our 8 year old where he wanted to go to dinner, basically anywhere in North Dallas, and he chose Taco Bell for some Doritos flavored taco shells.
When I was fresh out of Stillwater and didn't have a pot to piss in I ended up at a Pancho's in DFW. I couldn't even eat it and that says a lot being straight out of school and living on value meals and $5 Hot N' Readys. I remember there being a puddle of water on my skillet from the enchiladas, the salsa was basically water, and I bit into some fried cheese thing and the inside of it was still a block of cheese since they hadn't cooked it all the way.
My firm brings in breakfast tacos from Taco Cabana on a Friday about every other month. I destroy em'. Love me some Taco Cabana.
Lived in Dallas 6 years and never figured out why Mi Cocina was so popular the food is bland in my book. Cantina Laredo was disappointing and after I saw that under cover video of El Fenix's meat company delivering meat in 100 degree weather in unrefrigerated trucks I never went back there. It's pretty low quality anyways.
For the moderate priced stuff I liked Uncle Julio's and Chuy's.
