Please. Come with something original. The "UK pays players, UK players don't go to class, Cal has 2 vacated Final Fours" is played out.

I actually love seeing this stuff. It's all OLD material. If there was anything recent, like DURING Cal's tenure of 6+ years now at UK, we'd be hearing about it.

I suppose they are not saying we pay our players now since Blackmon chose IU.

UK is getting closer to IU in national academic rankings and far exceeds it for some programs. It's not like Indiana is Michigan or Penn State when it comes to academics though. IU is a actually a safety school for kids from my local high school who can't get into Penn State (and over 100 kids from there do go to PSU every year, it is the #2 high school in the state.)

What I love about schools like louisville and indiana talking about academics are, for one, louisville is a little better than a community college. No one, anywhere, thinks of louisville as an academia standard. They're more known for a damn baseball bat than anything.

With indiana they try and conform to some sort of success and since they have none in basketball, they try and poke holes somewhere else. Peegs is an Indiana basketball board. It's really got nothing to do with academics.

Both of those schools would trade what we have in a New York second. Just like louisville did with pitino, they'd take cal next with no problems. Douche bag fan bases both of them.

All B1G schools are elitist snobs even though they cluster their athletes in the same weak major or have outright academic fraud like Michigan.

I could have easily gotten into Indiana based on SAT scores. I took the SAT once and didn't even give a crap about it, no prep work or nothing. I just walked in to the room and took it. Their average SAT scores aren't much better than where I went and where I went isn't anything special overall academically.

Re: IU fans thinks UK is bad academic institution...

So there's two questions here:

What is Indiana University's academic reputation?
What is UK basketball's academic reputation?

On the first, IU is a good public university. It carries some of the esteem of the Big 10 schools generally. It's not Michigan, however, or Northwestern the latter of which is very highly thought of everywhere.

All Hoosier fans know about UK basketball is what Bobby Knight told them: the players don't go to class, they don't study and they all leave after a year of doing nothing but playing basketball. That's it. I hear them repeat that mantra over and over and over. And since Knight said it, you cannot persuade them otherwise.

Just the same old "hater" garbage they spew continually with zero regard for facts.

According to some, our players have never heard of attending class, going to summer school, and especially "graduating in three years".

Lol. They are arrogantly ignorant and clueless..........................and terrible at basketball.

Big 10 schools have always lorded their superior academic standing over the SEC and, except for Vandy and Florida, we don't have much of a comeback to it, their conference obviously does have the superior academic profile. Doesn't help them when an SEC team's kicking their *** on the football field, though.

But, you know, we do the same thing to UL, mercilessly mocking their academics. Fans use whatever they can to get their rival's goat.

Re: IU fans thinks UK is bad academic institution...

Facts vs. Peegs.....

Average ACT score IU=25 Acceptance rate=72%

Average ACT score UK=24 Acceptance rate=68% (**Average ACT for UK's most recent freshman class was 27)

Not seeing how IU is a better academic institution than UK.

Only difference I can see is they have a higher acceptance rate because they have to let in more court-storming, corn fed, Bobby Knight licking, mouth breathing, 80's mullet looking, meth lab loving--Hoosiers.

If IU is such a damn fine academic institution, you'd think they could find one decent structural engineer in the applied sciences program to keep their roof from falling in at *** Hall.

Here's a link to US News College Academic Rankings

For what it's worth Vanderbilt #16 is ranked higher than the best Big Ten school Michigan #29

Kentucky is ranked #129 while Indiana is #76, Louisville is #161,

Every SEC School is ranked in the Top 150 Colleges

You forgot about Northwestern, which is ranked ahead of Vandy at 13th.

That is what Big Ten teams always hang their hats on. They act as if their players are all doctors and lawyers and are convinced they hang banners for spelling bees.

its bull crap. I went to UK as a science major...... they recruit people from all over the world to come to UK. And I remember one of our professor's was an Ivy League graduate...I mean how can they argue that UK is easy? And if the major is easy, it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing. Every school seems to have differing majors with degrees of difficulty.

I agree with this. You have to compare majors if you want to try to make this type of argument. Is IU's communication degree really that much harder or better than UK's communication degree.

I will grant that there are some schools that are known for certain degrees and are probably better at them than others. They may have more expertise and be able to discriminate more, but no one should kid themselves that the typical degrees earned by athletes are any better from one university to the next.

No offense to UK or IU, but 99% of America would look at degree from UK and IU as practically the same thing... two respectable state schools no different than Ohio State, Kansas, Iowa, Florida, UConn, Maryland, (insert most state schools here).

IU fans need a straw to grasp at, I guess.

peegs is a cesspool. Since 1992 IU has been to the Sweet 16 ONE TIME!!!! We have been to the Sweet 16, 14 times with three championships since then. Final Fours total? 8 for them, 16 for UK.
IU is completely irrelevant.

The funny thing about their academic claims...A. Yes UK is gaining ground with its focus on becoming a research school. And B. life is about networking, etc. For instance if I have a business degree from uk and some pansy has one at IU, if I'm the better interview, I'm getting the job, no one ever says oh he went to IU hire him. They act as if no one has ever been successful graduating from UK. I'd be interested in seeing what degree most of them have over there...doesn't really matter where you went if you have an exercise science degree. Btw, to rub it in their face...purdue and Notre dame are both better academically...so once again they can't win their state.
