Not surprising and it would keep with their trying to maintain student-athlete status. In a contrarian move to this, Ivy League schools will be allowed to be a part of the FCS Football Playoff if they have a team that is selected. I think this was a response to one of their teams going 11-0 a couple years back and being ranked in the top 10 of FCS

I wonder what it means to "opt out"? Every litigation defendant I've ever known would love to opt out but it doesn't really work that way. I guess they opt out of the settlement and negotiate their own settlement, or litigate. Maybe they think they can do better since their athletes tend to have very little NIL value.
