I just saw an article about this on Facebook. The article that I read said that no announcement is imminent but he's planning to return. This now gives us 9 definite players for next season with 3 still unknowns in Duvall, Knox and Bamba. I think we'll get Duvall and maybe Knox but I'm not sure we'll get Bamba.

Great news. GA and Jacks back. We pull Duvall and things will be very bright in Durham this coming season. Even if Duvall chooses another path I feel better about things.

We will have a pretty killer back court next season. Add Ques, Javin, Wendell, and we should look pretty good.

I am so glad to hear this amid all the rumors.

I sure do hope we get a true PG to distribute. I would love to see a PG with Allen and Jackson on the floor to spread teams out and give our bigs some time to post up. Jackson can get to the rim, he showed flashes of brilliance later in the year.

Should be fun to watch.

And the hits ...just...keep...on...coming! Great news, now just give us one more hit...Duval...! Hard to imagine Duval could resist playing with this group, I mean let's get serious! I think redemption and #6 are very real probabilities if Duke can stay injury free. Try and game plan for this unit! Let' see, how in the hell are we going to stop this bunch?! Who do we want to concentrate on stopping? Good Luck.
Damn, I find myself prepping for the upcoming season already.
Go Duke!

Nice to see some positivity and optimism. The injury and total dysfunctional season we had, has many gun shy, but the future is bright.

I'll hold off until the season starts. This past seasons team looked good on paper as well. I do think Dukes bigs will be more involved should Duval come and with the guards on the roster and not just jacking up threes this could be a very solid team.
Rim protection and on the ball defense is what I want to see.
I do think there is a chance if everyone buys in to be special

Great news for the second day in a row!

To echo the general sentiment, if they can add Duval, boy this team is starting to look like a puzzle that fits well together!

That back court, with a rotation of Carter/Bolden/DeLaurier and with White and O'Connell getting some burn should be fun to watch. There is a lot of athleticism on that team.

D-Lau can fly and works very hard. It wouldn't surprise me to see him surpass Bolden in minutes.

I mean back court. I believe I failed to use a comma in there. The proposed back court, with that front court rotation, and the role players, should be fun to watch.

The only concern i would throw into that synopsis is the fact that players like White have seen very little time over the past few years. Short bench and new OAD talent trumps them for PT it seems. If we get Bamba and Knox then i see little time for either White or Jav...big IF there though...OR maybe this coming year we will see a change in philosophy and play a deep bench...and pork goes airborne!

Who are these players like White the last few years? I certainly don't think white should have played this year. Do you?

I guess you could argue Vrank should have played this year. He's a white level recruit that seemed like he earned it, but outside of him, can't recall any similar players over the last few years that would fit that mold.

I thought Jav not getting more time early was a huge mistake last year. I think he is capable doing the things Justice did but maybe not as consistently.

i am okay if we only get duval. knox and bamba really dont interest me. it is not like k will play depth. if bamba comes then less time for carter and bolden. would rather these two play. also with javin and vrank we have good frontline depth. play them. knox is an nba three that we would force into a college 4. meh. i would rather get smith and tucker and let them develop over a few years.

Gotcha, my bad Dbav. I was trying to imagine Bolden running the wing...lol

Get Duval or this Smith kid from Illinois. If Smith is a multi year player, I'd take him. No Knox, no Bamba. Play the returning bench guys some so when Duke has their next wave of departures Vrank, Delaurier and White are more prepared for the next season. Some time for those 3 can only help this team.

Haha, I'm 20 years removed from my damn high school English.

I think Bolden running the wing would be the most exciting part, haha.

I'd like to see Javin develop a reliable baseline jumper and floater. He has the touch to do it. If I'm being greedy, he has a reliable 3 ball in his arsenal too.

Assuming we sign Duval and miss on Bamba/Knox, we'll have 10 scholarship players next year. That seems like a solid number where guys #9 and #10 have a realistic shot of potentially getting some game minutes if they play well enough in practice.

Sr (1): Grayson Allen
Jr (1): Antonio Vrankovic
So (4): Frank Jackson, Marques Bolden, Javin DeLaurier, Jack White
Fr (4): Trevon Duval, Wendell Carter, Gary Trent Jr, Alex O'Connell

If Duval commits then I think you can play Grayson at both at the 2 and 3 positions depending on if you wasn't to go big or not. If Knox comes then we could also play him at the 3 or 4 position. Would love to see the two lineups below:

Duval - PG
Jackson/ Trent SG
Allen - SF
Carter/ DeLaurier- PF
Bolden- C

Duval - PG
Jackson/ Trent -SG
Allen - SF
Knox/Delaurier- PF
Carter - C

All 10 should play imo
