I believe he was 4th or 5th string.Good luck to him. Hard to keep 3rd string QBs on the roster.
Fitzgerald? He's one portal guy I will support. Struggled with health this year but wasn't going to take a spot away from the other three QBs that came in.
I would guess Brown will be next.
Definitely a kid you're rooting for. Good luck in his next stop.Hawk qb with 2 years eligibility has entered transfer portal
A walk-on who led Iowa football to wins and got his degree from the UI. He will always be a Hawkeye.2-0 career starter. Done something only 1 nebraska qb has done in 11 years and that’s get a win on Black Friday. Hope he finds success at next stop.
Wish him well…disappointed the coaches never even seem to acknowledge him during the season as a possible option. IMHO he was better than Brown…Hawk qb with 2 years eligibility has entered transfer portal.
Fitzgerald?
Still baffled by the QB evaluation last season as I thought we had a starter between him and Brendan Sullivan going into this season. Stratton can play for somebody if he finds the right fit. Sorry things didn't work out for him here.Wish him well…disappointed the coaches never even seem to acknowledge him during the season as a possible option. IMHO he was better than Brown…
The kid showed potential last season, then was thrown on the trash heap behind Hecklinski and Brown this season, Brown who helped make sure Iowa failed to upset Indiana. Stratton would have had a better shot at completing that screen pass. The kid can play somewhere. That he's transferring is no surprise. I hope he finds the right place.Hawk qb with 2 years eligibility has entered transfer portal.
We can only hope. He's one portal guy I will support. Struggled with health this year but wasn't going to take a spot away from the other three QBs that came in.

Yah, you'd think the walkon Little Fitz would be joining his dad in East Lansing.Fitzgerald?
If Brown does move on think about where that leaves us. Fitzgerald will likely go play for his dad a young guy who at least gave us some depth. We will have Hecklinski backed up up by Sullivan and the incoming freshman Bessinger. Solid young group but no real experience. Kirk said at one point they don't plan to bring in a QB in the portal. We can only hope.
I agree with you about Brown. It will help greatly if he sticks around and continues to develop as we need the depth.Hank Brown should not be written off due to one play, imo.
Really hoping Heck is the real deal but we know you need 2 guys ready to go at that position.
Be good if brown and sully progress and we can concentrate on other needs in portal
Is the QB room better than 1 year ago?
Not sure why anybody would think the job doesn't have to be won.I agree with you about Brown. It will help greatly if he sticks around and continues to develop as we need the depth.
If Kirk makes spring an open competition to determine the starter that seems the best scenario. If we we go into spring with Hecklinski the predetermined heir apparent we may well lose Brown and then we have a thin QB room.
san diego is indeed a very fine city but iowa city --> america's finest city feels like a bit of a dig at ICInteresting that he didn't go G4/5.
Probably has a good chance to start at USD. Nice weather too.
Never heard of the University of San Diego so I had to look it up. Per Wikipedia:
The San Diego Toreros football team is the college football program that represents the University of San Diego (USD). The Toreros compete in NCAA Division I (FCS) as a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL).
Good luck to Stratton!
Lived a mile from it for 3 years. Really nice school and SD is hard to beatNever heard of the University of San Diego so I had to look it up. Per Wikipedia:

Yes, I would agree with you. Kirk mismanaged QB position. That bum we had last year screwed us and now only going in the 6th round of the NFL drat...If Brown does move on think about where that leaves us. I posted quite a bit at the old site that it seemed a major mistake to move away from Brendan Sullivan and Stratton who I thought played well for us and would have made a solid duo this season after working with Lester for a spring. We picked up Brown who didn't look ready when he had the opportunity. Kirk has badly mismanaged the QB position which very soon will show up in spades I think.
You are correct sir. Don't forget water. Where is the water coming from?Taxes, utilities, insurance, housing costs..............................
Hope he does. I think I'd actually see if he does indeed get Drafted before I spouted it as some proclamation. But whatever.Yes, I would agree with you. Kirk mismanaged QB position. That bum we had last year screwed us and now only going in the 6th round of the NFL drat...![]()
