Going to Jamaica later this year and want some first hand recommendations for all inclusive resorts. Looking for good food options, included entertainment options, dress codes, easy access to food/drink no matter where you are at the resort. Don't really care about night life, more about relaxation.

We're going to the Royalton Bluewaters in Montego Bay next Friday. Gets really good reviews, and we got a good deal booking through Costco.

Obviously can't say for sure if I'd recommend it yet, but I'll post back in this thread after we get back to let you know how it was. Looks pretty damn nice though. One of the reasons we chose it is because it has a sister resort next door (Royalton White Sands I think) that we also have access to, so it doubles the amount of restaurants and pools we can visit.

We went to a destination wedding at the Grand Palladium in Montego Bay about 5 years ago. We had no complaints. Once thing I would recommend...stay away from the all-inclusives that are on Seven Mile Beach. They are stacked on top of one another and it is a battle for beach space. If you go past Margaritaville, it goes down hill. Fast.

The Grand Palladium was all by itself and self contained. Bring a tumbler for drinks.

Oh, and don't go to the hospital. You are better off dead.

the luggage boys are your go to for buying weed. it will be delivered to your room with your bags. no joke. one little nod, you like to party. whatever you want. we had our hook up before our room was ready for check in. the resorts there would rather you get what you want in the safety confine of the resort rather than going out looking. enjoy. your welcome.

It’s been several years since I’ve been to Jamaica, but I would stay away from Sandals Montego Bay. It is very close to the airport and loud.

Couples San Souci in Ocho Rios was good, but I was there 15 years ago, so who knows now.

Got back from the Royalton Blue Waters in Montego Bay, and man, what a nice place. It was one of those perfect vacations that you only get 5-6 times in your life. It's all-inclusive and I highly recommend it.

It is a family resort, so keep that it in mind, however, there weren't a ton of kids. On site, there's water slides, a lazy river, and a few pools. However, it never felt that crowded. We never had a problem getting chairs at the pool or the beach even if we weren't down there first thing in the morning.

Restaurants at the resort (there were 6 or 7) were decent. Not super fine dining, but definitely good enough for an all-inclusive. Staff was excellent and attentive. Mixed drinks probably needed more alcohol, but Red Stripe was flowing like water so I didn't care.

Rooms were good, wifi was excellent throughout the resort (including the beach), and relaxation was paramount. Jamaican locals are super laid back, and very nice...to tourists anyway.

Excursions I recommend are the glowing lagoon, and Duns River Falls. There's also a coral reef off the coast so the snorkeling excursions are better than some of the places I've been.

Overall, stay around Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, and you'll be happy. Stay away from Kingston is what I heard.

Honeymooned at Rose Hall Plantation about 10 years ago. Will go again.

Everything was nice. There is a water park and golf course on the grounds.

Worth a look.

We took a bike tour through the Blue Mountain Rain forest... watched dudes harvest coffee beans along slippery cliffs.

That was my favorite thing. Plus the weed.

Been all over the Caribbean, Jamaica was my least favorite.

To each his own I guess, but I'm curious what you didn't like about it?

I've been to the Dominican, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Cancun and Jamaica was my favorite.

I found Jamaica extraordinarily boring.

I was bouncing off the walls after my 3rd day.

I need real human interaction, not some walled-in, sterile ********. We did anything to get off the “property”.

Europe by train is my jam.

Just stay out of downtown Kingston. I speak from experience. Also the "guunmann" in the mountains. Jamaica is one of the countries where only the bad have guns. So you see bars on the windows, giant iron gates and big dogs behind them. Some of the walls have glass embedded in the top so if you scale the wall you get cut to pieces.

But the resorts are very nice and you should not have any problem. I was in Jamaica working for 6 months so it was not a pleasure trip. But I did get to enjoy some of the beauty and friendly people. Just not in Kingston.

We left the resort twice in 7 days, and I couldn't have been happier. Boring and relaxing is exactly what I look for in a vacation.

Outside the resort is extremely poor, which is why they advise not to leave resorts in alot of Jamaica. It's never stopped me from leaving the resort there, but it's not the atmosphere like the Caymans, exuma etc.

Ended up booking Excellence Oyster Bay, about 40 minutes from the airport. It's a newer resort and sounds great from the reviews.

I stayed at an Iberostar in the Domincan, about 5 years ago. It was very nice. Been going to Mexico for the past four years. Never been to Jamaica and probably won't due to limited options for all inclusive.

I get your point. Like being stuck on a cruise ship. Tripping around Euro by train or car is great.
