In my opinion, losing Hatcher really hurt this defense. I personally think he would have help this group greatly. I think Stoops did the right thing, but from a talent stand point, sure would have helped.

I agree. We have had players that if we're still on the field would be starting over the current guys. Solid players that are no longer here. Not saying they should be, but the talent of those players are obviously missing from the field.
We could have JJ Watt out there and under Stoops and Eliot's expert tutelage they would find a way to make him look mediocre. Heck, they did the exact same thing with Bud and Za'Darius, couldn't generate a pass rush or stop the run all year long with maybe the best DE tandem in the nation.

My thouhgts exactly...people act like we lost Lawrence Taylor. Hatcher had 5 QB sacks in 3 years at UK. He would be better than Josh Allen but it would have only been marginal
Yep, these 2 hurt worse. Hatcher was an edge pass rush guy mainly. We've actually had decent qb pressure. Just can't stop the run.
