Not surprising. Wish it would have worked here.

I still believe in his potential, but he wasn't going to get the coaching he needed here. This is the best move for him.
Too small and frail for a 2-guard and doesnāt have any point guard skills. This was a no brainer.
Not until he gets way stronger if you look at the SG from that class only Mullins has been worth anything
See ya. I have been as hard on Pope as anyone but not sure the best coaches could get this guy to play defense or pass the ball.

Yeah good luck. He might be alright junior year. Didn't play defense, and would just jack up shots and turn the ball over.
I see his potential but he needs at least several more years to mature physically and psychologically and we don't have time to wait. It is what it is.
I have so little faith in this coaching staffs ability to develop guys.
Pope just has a ton to prove on this off season. First and foremost can he get the guys? Can he develop them? Can he win with them?
Itās all gotta play out.
Iām not mad at Jasper Johnson. He showed flashes. But heās not a needle move for me one way or the other.
Hope it works out for him either way.

Iām not sure itās correct to say Johnson was overrated by recruiting services. Those services mainly rate players based on future NBA potential ā especially at the top of the rankings ā rather than expected production as a college freshman. In Johnsonās case he is a long 6ā5ā with good perimeter shooter and scoring potential. So, maybe thatās the ranking basis. And maybe, as others have said, if his body and game mature and develop he can be a really productive college player and a pro. But I feel like thatāll take patience and UK is probably not the best place for that. Just my opinion.
Next year? Not with the game he currently has. He's bound and determined to play his own game when heās on the court and don't blame it on Pope, everyone else was playing team ball, JJ was the only one playing mix tape basketball.

Weak, can't dribble, inefficient, ball hog and couldn't guard his own shadow. I watched him several times in high school and wasn't impressed. Glad he's gone

Pope gave him every opportunity, but had to keep pulling him off the floor. He refused to play team ball.
JJ and his uncle can head on down the road if he's goung to continue to play like he doesn't know better.
