I like Javon at third, but having Heady and Mahan playing up the middle does make me a bit nervous. Hopefully they have improved and our infield defense can be something our pitchers can rely upon.

Yes. He went to BCTC for a year and didn't play ball. He's playing ss at a JUCO in Illinois now.
Yeah, I remember he left to play baseball somewhere. Great defensive third baseman. I played at Corbin and graduated the same year he did. We played Tates Creek like four or five times I think. Lost every time of course but they had a lot of kids going to play college baseball and we didn't have any.

Another article about JaVon. This one is in the Herald-Leader (or will be tomorrow):

JaVon actually played 3rd base for about 4-6 weeks when he was a junior at Tates Creek. My son was the regular starter who got mono.

Sounds like he had it pretty bad, seems to affect different victims differently. I had a friend that got it at UK and spent six weeks practically bedridden, lost about 25# (not fat to start with), and had to drop out for the semester. I had it bad for a weekend at UK, I drug myself to a Saturday class, went to the UK hospital where they gave a blood test which took about two weeks to get the results. I stayed in bed for the weekend, drug myself to a Monday morning class, and was pretty much over it by the end of the day. The hospital called me two weeks later to rush over because I had tested positive. I had been over it for about 12 days by then, I thought it was funny that they called.

And no, I wasn't kissing anyone at the time.

Had more to do with having an enlarged spleen. Can't play sports until your spleen returns to normal size.
