Weird to respond to the great Oscar Peterson clip with that list of smooth jazz artists. There are many great contemporary jazz artists who do not play in that overly commercial, schmaltzy style.

I love all jazz. Well, didn't get into the fusion jazz but to each his own. Been listening for decades. If you like smoky bar jazz, female singer, then Dave's True Story is worth a listen.

I’ve been lucky enough to see a number of the greats. Sonny Rollins, Jimmy Smith, McCoy Tyner and many others. New stuff is great and all but get out and see the old timers while they’re still around.
