any of you do jiu jitsu? Or other martial arts? 34 and looking for something new and interesting to try. I've been looking at several places to find one that fits my schedule. Just was curious who else is doing it and what your thoughts are

Yep. I've been in martial arts for many years.

Started in tae kwon do.....2nd degree black belt. Been rolling for 6-7 years now....gi and no gi. Competed for several years until I got hurt pretty badly. Now trying to get back to competition weight and shape to start up again with that.

If you're in the OKC area, I'll make a pitch for my school. We have a great group of guys.

I love it, btw. A true full workout that engages both mind and body at the same time.

I want to do this so badly, but I can't justify the cost of both this and crossfit.

I'm in Tulsa (broken arrow actually). With 2 kids, I'm looking more at schedule/class times vs the overall quality of the instructors, sadly.

Was looking at a place called Primate, as they have 6 am times that I could hit.

Don't know much about Primate.

I'd say just go for it. Don't agree to a long term contract for at least a month or two....if ever. If you don't like the place, go elsewhere.

If you can find one in your area, I would highly recommend a Ryukyu Kempo studio. That is what I studied and it's both a hard and soft style. I was fortunate to have a sensei who studied under Master Seiyu Oyata.
