Any chance we pick up JJ Holmes over the next few days? He was offered while here so they must have liked him or did they decide to go with just Carter? Would be happy to add another juco DT

From the way it sounds the staff feels like they got an absolute steal with Carter. I would guess that they are not going to take Holmes but who knows.

apparently he never had that official to missouri either and no missouri offer. i think it was a good tape but bad in person interview would be my guess.

I saw where he was offered by Mizzou on Jan 20, not sure about the official though. Losing his position coach before his visit probably didn't help.

Carter is an edge athlete. Looney, Carter and Pringle already got the scholarships for the interior line. I think Stoops is done signing players for 2016 unless something unusual happens at a position of high need. Stoops said next year's class will be smaller, which means he is short on scholarships. Holmes has at least 5 P5 offers but apparently hasn't committed yet. My guess would be that he was the odd man out of Kentucky's class, and is now re-evaluating his other options because Kentucky's class is full.

No, this isn't the case. Has nothing to do with the interview. He was advertised as being 6'2, and coaches felt that he wasn't close to that, so they weren't sold on him, and TJ Carter moved up the offer board.

JJ Holmes came to visit and he was smaller and shorter than they thought he was. So he didn't pass the look test and they did extend an offer on a "just in case" basis but it wasn't a commitable offer. Coaches passed on JJ Holmes.

Coaches also passed on Jaqwuan Nelson as well. He said that he chose Syracuse over UK and Georgia, but Georgia's insiders are saying that they never send him an LOI to sign, and UK's insiders didn't send one either.

I told others on another board that if you forget about offers and look purely at the film, TJ Carter looked much better than Jaqwuan Nelson. Nelson plays like a Weak-Side DE but the size of a Strong-Side DE, which is disaster for how UK has to play the true DE spot.

No doubt that UK must have liked the potential of Carter much better than the potential of Holmes. Probably the only way that Holmes will ever end up at UK is as a walk on.

For those that don't believe this, it's true that this was reported. The only LOI sent to him was from Syracuse. Also, Georgia was in contact with Carter late in the process (didn't offer, but interest was there).

Between Carter, Nelson, and Holmes, the coaches liked Carter the most, and that's not a huge surprise with him being 6'4, 250# with a 4.70 forty, with a very nice frame to work with (could probably gain 25 or 30 pounds without losing speed, which is insane).
