Does this mean that he's definitely going to Washington?
Iāll take Yates or Pierre, either one will do. Both have the size and athleticism and shooting we need.
Iām leaning toward Yates as my personal preference just because he played in the Big 10 and I am a bit of a P5 conference snob. I like guys that have proven they can play at the highest level. Plus Yates has three years left compared to two years for Pierre.
But I would be happy with either one.

Alvin Brooks needs to seal the deal ASAP
Yates or Pierre will be a great get. Either is good with me. I still hope we have a shot at Alvaro but doubt it now. Or the other big from Croatia.
Probably a little too early for Top 25 polls, but are we #1 if we add Yates or Pierre? No obvious weakness on the roster if we add another shooter.

Does āslight edgeā mean Yates is slightly more interested in the vision Pope has for him in our program? Or does is mean we are currently offering slightly more money?

ESPN had us @#6 before the JQ commitment.
Im going to say get Yates over Pierre just because there is a possibility the NBA teams see the freak athlete potential with Pierre and he stays in the draft. SO lets just get the better shooter who's still got really good athleticism himself and call it a class.
I think Yaxel is rated around 28 in the draft, JQ was top 5 before injury and expected to be top 5 next year.

No, JQ is around #6 overall on the 24/7 board. Hope he recovers well.
Oh and for all those who lacked patience and thought the sky was falling. We now have the #3 ranked portal class. Louisville still # 1 though, but we have a deeper overall roster. Louisville is like the reds signing 19 shortstops. They're gonna be playing four guard lineups.

The fact that Diabate and Williams could both also log minutes for us at the PF spot, and that JQ can play the 5 spot with his rim protection, gives us A LOT of flexibility and versatility.

But you HAVE to land Yates to feel good about the shooting aspect.

We have nobody like Alvaro on the roster. We need him bad for flexibility, skill and depth.
If he lands Alvaro and Yates, I might streak the quadā¦ā¦ . on a warmer day.
As of right now Quaintence can't even play. He has to heal, then get into game condition, then be able to take contact, and then learn the sets.
I will admit I was concerned due to Pope being an unknown entity in recruiting with NIL and not much movement. Having said that I wasnāt part of the sinking ship committee that was prevalent on this board. I think Pope is a hell of a coach and he appears to be backing it up with great recruiting.Nope.
