You may remember him as UK's baseball coach from 04-08. Has no AD experience. Played for MSU and is their current baseball coach.

What's happening with Scott Stricklin (former UK AD employee, now the State AD)? Fired, retiring, etc.??

Very interesting.

I'm sure there are a number of very qualified candidates who have athletic administration experience who were passed over.

Kind of like USC going with Lynn Swan.

I know it's common to give former coaches and beloved players ceremonial figure head positions, but giving them the full responsibility of AD without having any sort of experience is not widely practiced.

Maybe it will all work out.

Don't see much of that ex-coach becoming AD anymore, used to be pretty common. College athletics has become so big and so much money involved that schools have pretty much gone away from ex-jock types to CEOs.

Very true. I did a little googling and it looks like Cohen has been doing some administrative things for the department including helping in the hiring of coaches, but yes, it's a business and you better know how to run a business.
