John Wall has announced his retirement from playing basketball. I would love to see him come back and be part of the staff somehow.
Meh, he was a cog in Calipari’s one-and-done players-first crap fest. I’m thrilled Calipari is gone, and I don’t see how adding a Calipari protégé to the current staff yields positive returns.John Wall has announced his retirement from playing basketball. I agree John Wall played a big part in Kentucky basketball's brand in that era.Weird! Been showing my little boy his highlights at Kentucky today. Love John Wall and appreciate Calipari but John Wall rebuilt the foundation for Kentucky basketball.
What a great memory for you and your sonMy son was not quite ten and not yet understanding what Kentucky basketball meant to generations of our family when we sat down together in our Maryland home to watch the UNC - Kentucky game in December 2009.
The first John Wall sprint and dunk -- the "Rack Attack" play in Ian Eagle's call -- changed all that. By the end of that 26-2 run Wall ignited he was hooked for life.
The next year, living in the DC suburbs, I took my son to a Wizards game to see Wall face off against Rajon Rondo and the Celtics. The area was packed with people wearing Kentucky gear and it was almost as exciting as being in Rupp for UK fans. I fille my son in on ROndo's days as a Cat. Then Wall hit a last-second game winning three. A perfect day.
Thanks for the memories John. Someday my son will be telling his grandson why he's a Kentucky fan. And you'll be a big part of the story.
Are you serious? I can’t tell. That would almost be the same as not wanting Pope to coach here because he played for Rick P. Wall loves Kentucky and would help in so many ways.Meh, he was a cog in Calipari’s one-and-done players-first crap fest. Terrible take. Just awful.Meh, he was a cog in Calipari’s one-and-done players-first crap fest. I’m thrilled Calipari is gone, and I don’t see how adding a Calipari protégé to the current staff yields positive returns.
Makes me sad, he would have been on a HOF track had injuries not derailed his career, same with Cousins.John Wall has announced his retirement from playing basketball. I would love to see him come back and be part of the staff somehow.
Wall is one guy I’m not sure Cal could improve his game. He might have helped him grow up but Wall is absolute legend material long before Cal.Terrible take. Just awful.
The dude loved UK and has never said a bad thing about the University even after Cal left. Spending 6 months with Cal hardly qualifies him as a protege either.
Yeah I’ve still not seen a prospect who plays a similar way with his speed and ability to make shots with both hands.I always found one of the most amazing things about Wall was how he was virtually ambidextrous. I loved how he would hammer dunk with left hand.
Amazing handles and speed...hell of a talent.
Too many 3 pt attemps while missing them. 4/32 It was painful.I love Wall and would love to have him assistant coach here. Players would respect an NBA all star and number one draft pick. But gosh, what happened against West Virgina?
I think by now we can safely say Cal happened. We just hadn't seen it yet like we had his last few years here.I love Wall and would love to have him assistant coach here. Players would respect an NBA all star and number one draft pick. But gosh, what happened against West Virgina?
