Some people are calling it a carry. He can't be the first to have thought of this and maybe because it is technically a carry it hasn't really been around before. First time a ref blows a whistle after he does it there will be a forced decision on whether it is a rules violation.

Hope they let him keep doing it. Offense could really use a shot in the arm.

I love it. Glad he's got it perfected. But it's nothing new. Chris Paul uses it, though I havent seen it from him in a while. A few other guards used it back in the mid 2000's I seem to recall.

Definitely not a carry. He does the opposite by keeping his hand on the side of the ball and then sliding down vertically to create the spin. Could be affective as a fake pass. Wall for prez

Note: When you are an originator you become legend. In basketball... Dr. J, Kareem, MJ,....Yes Wall can be in that Company as will Coach Cal one day. You are probably witnessing original history. He already has the Wall dance. Now it's on the court.....WoW

..yes it's that big.

He wasn't the first to do it though. I saw a clip where Jeff Teague did it last season...and it was ironically against Cousins.

Teague is not Wall. Must have been missed.

Wall calls the move a "cut dribble," and it looks to be a mix between a pass and a juke. Another appropriate name for the maneuver is a "yo-yo dribble" because Wall puts a backspin on the ball such that it returns to him after he lets it go. It's scary to think that Wall, already one of the league's elite point guards, has added a move like this to his arsenal.

I'm not even sure what that means.

We did this 40 years ago. I'm sure that it has been around since people first started dribbling a ball.

We used to be coached about putting spin on the ball to make it go different places especially while passing. Put a back spin on the ball while a guy is going on a runout and you throw it in front of him and it bounces directly into his hands. We did this all the time.

It seems normal not being sure but that's okay.

The best part of that video, besides the obvious skill displayed by Mr. Wall, is the typical Indiana fan in the stands who automatically assumes that if a player makes an unbelievable play against them, it must be an illegal play. Easy there, Hoosier.
