Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports visited NU practice yesterday and had some info on his Twitter feed. He said Gaines will miss the foreign trip in August with a stress fracture (the NU injury curse continues) and projected the starting 5 as Buie, Gaines, Kopp, Nance and Young.

He thinks it’s going to be a long year because he said we need Buie to be good simply to be competitive. And that maybe we can crack the top 10 of the conference in 2020-21 if everyone stays. So not exactly an encouraging look at this season.

Sucks that Gaines is hurt. But not surprising that it will be a tough year for a young NU team.

A couple of tidbits:

Is Turner not on the team anymore?

I'm not sure I'll ever believe another summer preview scouting report after this one ...

He jinxed him and they never figured out PG. Pardon was pretty darn good. Seems like he nailed it :(

I'll take "palpable buzz" and "epitome of stretch 4" for Robby Beran.

And, Pete Nance adding 25 lbs. of muscle and CCC saying he has a chance to make a significant jump.

Prognostications about where we land in the Big Ten are meaningless at this point. This year I'll take a bottom third Big Ten team if it scares the living hell out of other teams to play us.

Does anybody know where they are going on the foreign trip next month? This is the first I’ve heard about it, and don’t know if I had missed it mentioned previously.

Stress fractures can be a nightmare for basketball players. Not good news.
While they certainly can be, it is pretty early and bones take something like 6 weeks to heal. Danger is more reinjury. Hopefully Drugby can chime in

has the schedule came out yet? Hopefully, we can still bring in a graduate transfer.
Nance needed serious work, from what I saw, but he will get it this year since he is first man up.
