Some additional context on the Lathon situation:

I definitely wish the best for the young man.

Polished writing. Significantly better than the average basketball player posting online.

Not easy to face our mortality at a young age. I was never real close to my grandparents (they lived far away; some in old country), but it sounds like Lathon family is tightly knit.

Lathon put up 22 points, 11 boards and 6 assists for UTEP in their season ending loss to Marshall yesterday. Miners finish 17-15. I think he could have helped NU had he not F'd up.

He was averaging 4.3 points per game prior to yesterday against decidedly inferior competition, what exactly makes you think he could've helped us?

My eyes, watching the futility at Guard for NU the last 2 seasons.

Speaking as a UTEP fan who watched most of their games, Lathon had a mid-season slump due to some family issues coupled with some personal conflicts with one of the other guards on the team. It was serious enough that both players had entered the transfer portal at one point. Needless to say, it appears that the other guard is going to be the one to leave.

It's kind of like Hunter Johnson with his mom. I'm going to give him a bit of a pass. I saw what Lathon did last season and at the beginning and end of this season and I think he's going to be just fine as a junior and senior.

Only saw him play twice. Kid has the body of a bonafide stud.

Yet, so far, at best he is a "what if" player.

He would have been better than Ryan Greer for sure. If you think Greer helped us in any way, then, yeah, he would have helped us.

This will cause you to get ignored by a few.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Will his year in purgatory absolve him of whatever sin got him banished to El Paso? Only IGNORE knows.......

Well, he wants to be closer to Missouri. If he's looking for an academic school more like Northwestern, then of course it will be Washington University in St. Louis.

In all seriousness, U of Illinois is in close proximity to Missouri. If he's going to land at a "power" conference, that would Illinois would certainly be a candidate.

There are several strong mid-major candidates in the MVC, as well.
Illinois doesn’t need a PG. Mizzou does, though.
