I may have missed this if it's already been discussed but I heard a few mentions of a Michigan transfer, former 4⭐️ Wide receiver Brian Cole is visiting Kentucky this weekend on ksr.

Is this something that's supposed to be a secret and if not does the kid come here? Looks like a great addition at least by rankings. What's the word?

Well that's awesome! Hope it happens. He's got a hell of an offer sheet and yet I haven't heard much about it. It's really surprising considering ESPN and rivals have him as a top 150 player from his class and the number two overall recruit in Michigan.

So I'm guessing this is "the rabbit" stoops may pull out of the hat?

We are loaded at WR and didn't sign any Safetys in this class unless Gilliam can switch over. I would love to have a 6-2 200 SS with 4.4 speed back there head hunting. He will be a Soph in 2017 when Edwards and West will be Jr's and Marcus Walker will be a Soph. Stoops is building a great secondary!

I don't think it has yet been determine what position he plays. They have some time to think about it, since he'll have to sit this year.

Someone posted if he commits our class would jump to 21, is that correct?

He's a transfer so he would not count as a committed recruit and would have no effect on our class ranking.
True. Our class is signed. No matter where they are ranked, they are what they are. Rankings don't matter now. The players' contributions do.

Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but will there be a list of today's visitors posted somewhere or has one already been posted?

Gilliam was described as a safety in discussions with Stoops, I believe.

Cole was switched to safety after an injury and practiced as a safety for the bowl game (so,he could use a RS year learning the position). One of the leaders on defense for them, in an article, informed that he was blowing people up in practice. Puff? Maybe, but offers hope.

If you took his high school rank though and factored it into this class, where would that put us?

Correct, the UK Coaches (plural) have already said that Gilliam will be a safety and/or a nickel.

With the exception of JD Harmon (this year), Westry, Baity, Robinson & Griffin are currently projected to be the 2 deep CB's for the next 3 years, if things hold. Kendall Randolph, who has 2 years left, can also slide over from Nickel & Dime to play corner, when needed.

With the exception of Marcus McWilson (this year), Edwards, West, Walker & Gilliam are currently projected to be the 2 deep @ safety for the next 3 years, if things hold. Gilliam (and Edwards) can also play nickel. So Gilliam probably will have to move to nickel, if Cole plays safety.

At nickel & dime, Blake McClain has 1 year left & Kendall Randolph has 2 left. UK also has youngsters, J Tucker, K Beckham & W Jackson. Again, Gilliam may have to play here, initially, rather than Safety.

These are just the guys that should be on campus this fall. These names don't include any 2017 or 2018 recruits. Once those guys arrive, DB might become a real log jam. The good news is that all can RS & the depth will be insane.

All that said, UK might appear to be pretty loaded @ WR, but they might be even more loaded @ DB, IMHO.

Big safety. This may explain why Stoops just signed 3 lights out corners but no safeties.

Gilliam is a safety. Cole will eventually be a safety and will fill out our needs at secondary in this class.

We don't load up (IOW oversign) at any given position unless it is a Juco to fill a particular need. We signed 3 D-linemen (one at each position) because we play 3 D-linemen but we doubled up at NT and added a 4th D-lineman because there was a need. We signed 4 LB's but then added a 5th as a Juco because there was a need.

Jack LB - Bannerman, Bonner
Will LB - Walder
Mike LB - Daniel
Sam LB - Watson
DT - Looney
NT - Cross, Pringle
DE - Carter
