With all the portal and High School recruiting about to come to a conclusion by the end of April, I thought it's a time to ask how everyone judges talent. Do you look for size, speak, athletic ability, IQ, attitude, bulk, strength, ability to improve etc.

I like crafty guards specifically the ones that couldn't get by just on athleticism so they have a move pool and can shoot the rock.

Forwards - Defensive focused but can shoot the 3 ball at a high clip.

My Centers I like defensive minded rim runners

First: I look for players that can guard and are hard to guard. Then, I look for attitude, athleticism and fundamental basketball skills, especially shooting.

Quickness, quickness, and more quickness is the number one skill in basketball. if you have basketball IQ, and size along with the ability to shoot you have a legit superstar but it starts with quickness. Applies to football recruits as well. No matter how big and strong you are or how much you want to be successful, if you are not quick enough to make a block or a tackle, you will fail.

I like a combo of skill and athleticism.

Don’t want brick laying gazelles or sharp shooters who look like they’re wearing cinder block shoes.

Defensive intensity is my x factor. Offense is a lot about ability. Defense is more about want to.

I just look at their stats and how tall they are. If they commit to us then they're talented. If not they're flawed. In the end if it fails it's their fault and I cross my fingers for the next bunch.

Seen too many guys that have the measurables, but in the end are soft mentally or just can't seem to improve. Perhaps the problem was in their head or the step up in competition froze them. Either way I can't call it. Pretty sure I know nothing except how to work the remote.
