That effort and we get a big play akin to the two-point return in the 4th quarter ... feel pretty good about our chances.

Shame Patrick and the offense couldn't have bottled that first half. Then again, helps playing South Carolina (second worst defense we played all year, only Lafayette worse).

Or the Mizzou effort.

Think of it like this;

Is UL as good as they were last year,I think the answer is no.Are we as good as we were last year,I think the answer is yes(at least a wash)We were on the road last year,now we are at home.We didn't have any reason to play them as close as we did last year and were a dropped interception form winning the game.I think the players have to believe they can win this one(maybe like Stoops said they didn't believe they could beat UGA,but as much as they didn't believe that they should believe they can win this one)

I'm not too worried about effort when we're playing for a postseason berth against a hated rival. A player that isn't fired up for this game probably doesn't need to be playing football.

FWIW, about every number out there suggests we're considerably worse this year (against an easier schedule):

F+: 87th nationally (67th last year)
Sagarin: 80th (49th last year)
S&P+: 90th (58th last year)

Good news is (as you said) Louisville has also slipped from last year (e.g., 40th in the Sagarin vs. 30th last year), but not as much as we have.

Would be nice to narrow those numbers a tad with a win on Saturday.

The UL players are praying for no postseason births.
