The dead period in football is a complete joke. If the player does not wish to talk to anyone, he sure can make it plain to the coaches. I know coaches cannot directly make a call to players, But, com On. there are several ways around it. Sure the player can make contact. JMOP

Well the bowl teams are falling ahead already with the extra practices & media exposure.
It is my understanding that this rule has been around for a long time. Social media has vastly expanded during this time. Now, recruits can communicate more than ever and vice versa. Pretty much makes the dead period irrelevant now.
Correct. And you get one telephone call a week to a prospect during a dead period anyway. The prospect can call coaches all he wants. Dead period is about personal face to face contact.
True. Don't recall all the details but about a year ago the NCAA actually expanded the contact period for coaches and all because of social media.
Remember, the NCAA always does what's best for the student-athlete.
Not completely true. Bowl coaches used to call recruits from the sidelines. Coaches were not distracted by recruiting.
