Loved shooting the breeze with the UGA fans that made the trip this past weekend. Great fanbase, appreciate the comments.

The loss (lost opportunity) stings quite a bit, but you'd have to be a moron not to see the improvement/building going on in Lexington.

UGA is the best roadtrip I've taken and the fans were very gracious. I tried to make sure and return the favor Saturday. Amazingly, there was a large group of Dawgs close to me. After the game, not one acted like a punk and made eye contact and said, "Great game" If only others wearing red and black had that maturity...

UGA fans love that Keeneland/Game combo when it falls in October.

I bet. Glad you all take advantage of that, it makes for a unique and great game day for sure.

I lived in Atlanta and can tell you likewise, not much better road trip than a day in Athens (the quintessential southern town - fun place, with hospitable fans).

I will say, at least our culture is changing to the point that I actually expected to win Saturday (that's why the loss hurt, but have to give it up to the Dawgs for clawing out the win - talented teams do that). Here's hoping our Cats keep improving and we all get a tough fought exciting home and home SEC tilt for years to come.

I had one bad experience at Georgia, but otherwise my experience has always been very good with their fans. They travel in droves, even when they're in the middle of a disappointing year. Excellent fanbase that is like UK's wealthy cousin in that they rarely achieve what they should achieve but they are loyal to the end regardless of what happens on the field (it's all relative, their failures are just lesser than ours and their successes are generally greater than ours).

From a UGA fan you guys have really turned the corner are only getting better. Stoops is really getting your program where y'all want it. And I fully expect with some more depth in the next 2 years you'll be in the East battle.

Thanks you guys played good im skeptical about Kirby because the last former player we had as HC was Ray Goff and he was a disaster, Those hardly ever work out even Bama with Mike Shula was awful.

I agree with you. I would imagine Kirby's seat is already a little warm and had you guys lost to us last Saturday it would have been warmer still.

Thanks for the classy OP BTW.

I've had experiences with numerous Georgia fans in both football and basketball and have counted them as maybe my favorite fans outside of UK in the SEC. Have always enjoyed interacting with them and they show great class.

I don't ever recall a Georgia fan coming on this forum and causing any issues or trolling. Georgia IMHO has the classiest and most respectful fan base in the entire SEC. Now if only South Carolina and Tennessee fans could follow the example set by UGA fans.........yeah, I know. Not happening. LOL.

If Georgia's coach is already on a hot seat that encapsulates all that is wrong with the sports world. The coach is IN HIS FIRST YEAR at a program that hasnt won a title since Moby Dick was a minnow. I suppose know your place would apply here but its apparent the world has been flipped on its ear everytime I turn on the TV. I guess Smart better fire up the microwave to appease the fans.

Mark Stoops had a similar resume as Kirby both highly accomplished DCs but no head coaching experience. It's taken him 3 years to finally get it together and he's now starting to blossom into a quality head coach IMO. Of course he took over a dumpster fire whereas Kirby took over a fairly rich roster. None the less the point is you guys may just have to be patient with him while he transitions into his new roll. Huge difference between running a defense and managing an entire team. Expect a lot of mistakes, but look for growth and progress too.

Good luck the rest of the way and thanks for stopping by.

Im sorry Dawg I tried to quote the poster above speaking about the hot seat for Smart. I wasnt picking at you I was questioning how/why Smart could be anywhere near a hot seat. 9 games is not a big enough sample no matter the talent level. A guy needs his players in the upper classes before you can fairly warm up his seat unless he is losing every game.

Georgia fans have no reason to dislike us..we've never been competition to them..in basketball we would treat Georgia fans as nice as could be because we're so used to mopping the floor with them..it's easy to be nice to someone that you don't view as a threat

This is true in some ways Unfortunatley to us beating UK in football is no big deal whereas it would be to y'all and roles are reversed in basketball.

Kirby isn't on the hot seat. Some fans are disappointed in the season, for whatever reason we had quite a few expecting 10 wins with a new head coach pratically a new staff, a true frosh starting at qb, no OTs or playmaking WRs. Fans sometimes have unrealistic expectations, I thought 8 wins was our ceiling and if not for the Vandy upset we would get that.

I don't really know why everyone thinks the roster is loaded, OL talent is way down, WR talent is down, OLB aren't overwhelming, a couple of positions are talented but Richt really got lazy on the recruiting front the last 4-5 years, maybe not lazy but unsuccessful. We always signed RB, usually a top QB, but he all but ignored OL and DL recruiting, always did felt it wasn't a priority. Thats why we have the smallest OL in the conference, not researched but with 2 under 290 I think its probably the case.

I never really seen any trouble at UGA games with any other fanbases, except when Auburn's operations turned the fire hoses on UGA fans after we won a big game there. Carolina fans will tell you we will steal your babies and serve them during tailgates and after every game 5-6 innocent Carolina fans will have stories about being accosted by a UGA fan while walking with his wife and kids back to his vehicle. For the most part fanbases are much more cordial in person than they are here on message boards.

Same ole Grumpyolddawg-classy as always and always glad to have him aboard-he always adds class and knowledge to our board and Lord knows we certainly could use a lot of both at times. I spend most of my time on HOB but visit here on occasion and always look for/read your post for the reasons listed above. Thanks again for your participation and for bringing some friends this time too-please all of you come again soon!
