He is even more impressive in person, he can score almost at will.

Video doesn't do him justice. I new he was great just seeing video. But when I saw him in person I was literally speechless when I left the gym. He was almost like a video game who has their shooting set at 99. He hit a turn around jumper that you only see Kobe hit. Plus he's basically in range when he crosses midcourt.

His nickname fits him perfectly, The Machine. To be that good you have to be in the gym for hours and hours daily. You think every shot he takes is going in.

Newman has the potential to be a top 20 NBA player in a few years. It's imperative Kentucky adds players of his caliber. It pays off in recruiting and it makes the transition easier for whoever replaces Calipari down the road by simply pointing to guys in the NBA who played at Kentucky.

Cards will have to fall right to land Newman. He will be a starter somewhere, I only hope its Kentucky!

I'm surprised you're seeing him for th first time.

Him not being number 1 in this class is the equivalent of espn rating Wall 5th. It's complete retardation.

He's not only the best player in the class, but he will be a fan favorite, NBA All -star and potential HOFer, and cals best offensive show ever.

I have wanted him in blue for over 2 years now. I'll say it again and again. He's ours.

I really like the "swag" factor that he has. Makes a play in your face, and you know about it. Reminds me of boogie in high school. I think we could use a little more swag.

Don't like the way he walks. Plus pointy elbows.

Got through 2.5 minutes of that, nice looking player - but it was all jumpers. Is that his game? If he's strictly a jump shooter, I'll go out on a limb and say he's not going to be an improvement over Booker, or even his equal, most likely....

I would say him and Simmons are 1a and 1b.

Simmons is the truth, but so is Malik

I don't believe Simmons will be a better player than newman. Newman really should be the number 1 player in the class.

Shooting is not all newman does. He's a helluva defender. He has really nice handles, can create, and has a good ability to get to th rack.

He's not even close to one dimensional. His ability to score from anywhere on the floor is his best trait though.

Not even close to the same thing.

When Wall was in HS, every single scouting service other than ESPN had him 1 or 2. With Newman, not one single scouting service has him at #1. Rivals has him 3, Scout has him 11 (now that's stupid), 247 has him 4, ESPN has him 4. So you're talking about a consensus rating vs one service varying pretty far from all the others.

You may think that's wrong, but if so, it's everybody being wrong, not just one website.

Newman is the obvious #1 guard in the class, and I've wanted him all along, but I think some people (like you) are going overboard because he's so flashy. He scores, a lot, often in spectacular ways. That's great, but you could have said the exact same thing about Austin Rivers coming out of HS. If Newman is going to be an absolute stud, he needs to show that he can get to the hoop against college defenders (and finish), and consistently hit the 3 (I'd say forget about most of those 18-20 foot step-back jumpshots, because those are some of the worst shots you can possibly take), while integrating his game into a team concept.
