Well, fudge. I won't be surprised if Hansen excels at his next stop. Good luck, Justice.

When I saw him at the Spring game last year, I thought he was the best talent among our quarterbacks. I don't know what he was like in practice, but only he and Mayfield showed me anything until the Bama game. Haven't seen much since. I wish we had invested more into this kid.

Well this is sort of a kick in the balls.

But hey....OU still has 3 QBs so the stable isn't empty. Just need Riley to turn them into a winners and lets roll!!

There must be more to the story. Hansen was sitting in a near perfect position to take over the helm with three unproven q-b's ahead of him on the depth chart. He is from Edmond, OU and OSU country. Maybe he just wants to leave the state, because if he even considers the Cowboys (or any other Big 12 school] he sits for two years.

I've seen three schools mentioned, but it was only by another poster on another site. Utah State,Texas A&M (second choice out of HS) and Tulsa. A&M has two very young q-b's. Utah State has Heupel. Tulsa has an incoming 4 star that had originally committed to Baylor. It will be interesting to see where he winds up.

BTW, some sites are saying he's leaving because he's a zone read q-b vs the air raid. Not true, he was a pro-style, at least by this site.

Not sure he was in a clear position to take over the helm. He appeared to be the 4th option in the spring game and apparently he saw the writing on the wall. It really doesn't seem like that big of a loss

You maybe right, but he was the youngest q-b on the roster. The three above him have all been able to show what they bring in a game situation, not so much for him. He's the only one from Oklahoma, only miles from the campus. He is arguably the best thrower on the team. He was the tallest q-b and if you don't think that's important in todays game..well, yes it does.

It just might be, probably is, he just wants to transfer to a school where his skills fit better. I really thought CT would have been the one to go, but again we never know what goes on behind the scenes.............JMO

Will Knight get the start if he performs well in practice this fall? It will be interesting since Knight seems to have always performed well when the lights aren't on. Will Bob give him another chance or has he seen enough?

This would make the frequent rumor that I heard and posted a month ago would have some merit. The rumor was that the staff was going to limit reps to three quarterbacks in the future to maximize the chance for those three to compete, and Hansen, being the youngest, was headed for his second year as scout team guy.

This adds to the wisdom that was not observed last year that you need a quarterback in each class. We're going to need a good young guy to run the scout team. Maybe we'll have a receiver/quarterback who can step into the role.

Three guys aren't enough.

Dalton Wood?

And no it wasn't my original thought. I read it elsewhere..

I could see Justin starring in the Arkansas offense. I have no idea on their depth chart. Close to home, though.

It's going to be hard for him to go anywhere and play next season having missed spring practice. Maybe at TU. I just think he's better than that. But starting at Tulsa is a lot better for future prospects than holding a clip board at OU.

Not at all. But until we get another like him I'll miss him, if that's okay..................
Landry was obviously a good QB but he was also a statue. I think most people are looking for a QB that can move around a little when needed.

I would take a Paul Thompson at this point. Maybe we can finagle another year of eligibility for Jason White somehow.

Per SoonerScoop front page

Now we are thin at qb.

Has anyone seen anything from the athletic department or the football staff concerning this transfer? No official confirmation? No "we" wish him the best?

I am guessing that Hansen will not show up in the Big 12. I read somewhere that A&M is on his list? If so, how many OU transfers to A&M.

And who is going to be the scout team qb? The coaches have a lot to deal with. So much has happened since the Sugar Bowl.

Bob Stoops' official statement on the Hanson transfer has been posted over on the pay board.

I see no valid point in whining and trifling about another defection.
We don't need nor want anyone that doesn't want to be here.

It's the epitome of the 'all or nothing proposition'.

However, lick your wounds to your hearts content, while some of us will move on.

When your chief selling point in recruiting is how many NFL players you're producing, it has an impact on how many leave, I think. Having not seen any practices who could know how Hansen was doing. But he may have figured he came to run zone read and that's not the offense any more. So he'll end up some place where it is the offense. I'm sorry he's leaving, but understand why.

But he did want to be here or he would have never signed on with OU. I see this as another part of last year's failed season. Or at least an extension thereof. When you have an OC that gets fired things change. Part of the change was a new OC, a new WR Coach, a new RB coach etc. These changes have a HUGE impact on the team and these changes came due because of necessity.

Another integral part of the healing process, pointing out the obvious to the learned audience. Very cathartic, huh? :)

Well that sucks. I was really looking forward to Hansen making a run at the starting QB position. I wouldn't be surprised to see him wind up with Josh Heupel in Utah.

Yo Nota, just extending the thread.
That it may be perceived to be at your expense, nope, not the case at all.
Just light, well meaning banter among friends mind you.

This ***** is on life support...don't castigate me for giving it a few more liters of oxygen.

It's what I do...

Yeah, I got that loud and clear, the first time you said it...

Want to go for three?
It's a charm!

BTW, I can rule out any 'likes' from you on this?
Ah, that's what I thought...:)

Fitty... it's all good. But the process of healing runs deep on this board. Just imagine the process of the team. But no worries on my end as I began the 'healing' early on as soon as Huepel was fired. The quicker everyone accepted or accepts this the quicker the healing process is for them.

BTW, I expect a bit more healing to continue.

L. Jones was a good but not great qb and certainly not on the level of white, bradford or heupel. I think the job is probably Mayfield's to lose even though he is gonna make some bad decisions due to his gunslinger type mentality. As for Hansen will he be allowed to transfer within the conference?

Miss Landry due to him being the last qb for ou before these new guys? Sure he is better than them but at this point that's not saying much. I'm just stating he wasn't great

Yeah Yank, we've heard all this from you before...we get it.
You won't buy Landry Jones a cup of coffee. It's understood.
