Sams Club has the Vision B series kamado grill for half the price of a comparable BGE and it has favorable reviews everywhere I look. Think I might pull the trigger tomorrow and give it a try.

Is any part of it round? If so good chance it's just perception and it's actually flat. 0/5 stars

I'll give a legit response here. They perform on par with the BGE. I got one at Costco last year and have zero complaints with it. I've had people over who have a BGE and none have said anything negative about the food or the cooking process. It's basically the same product. It's like buying an Rtic cooler instead of a Yeti. Smart financial move.

Thanks for the honest response. I wasn't going to pay twice the price if the only difference was the color and the name.

You should check out Fast Track Auctions. I have had pretty good luck with them.

I am pretty sure most of the stuff is scratch and dent or returns. I see these grills on there all the time. Some damaged, some not.

Just read the details carefully and check out the pictures.

Billy, if you are going to continue to post on Teh Paddock then you must purchase only the most expensive items regardless of the performance level of comparable products.

Learn Paddock.

Listen to this guru. Following his advice you can have a brand new Akorn this year, and, a brand new Akorn every three years afterward. What a deal! Myself, as a bge owner, I will be stuck with both of my old eggs for the rest of my life.

Follow his advice about leasing a car as opposed to buying as well, dude's a Svengali when it comes to value decisions.

I'm not buying an Akorn, I'm also not buying a BGE, I'm going with the Vision series B.

I've had my akorn for 4 years still going strong paid $300. You paid somewhere around $1200 for a grill with no shelves and they tell you to use their magical charcoal. Hmmm and as for leasing a car I have no idea wtf you're talking about and neither do you.

I didn't pay anywhere near that amount. Your akorn is made of thin steel with some insulation in it. It will not last as long as an egg or any other ceramic smoker. As far as the charcoal goes, of course BGE recommends their charcoal. It is a pretty good charcoal, maybe not the best but definitely a long way from the worst. You gave away your knowledge level when you said all lump was the same.

Hope your lease works out well for you.

Please Do.

I purchased a similar grill from Costco about year ago (Pitt Boss). I have seen other forums mention that the Costco version is a re-branded Vision B. I bought it midway thru the summer for $400. It seems to be of a similar Quality to BGE (in terms of ceramic thickness, hinges, damper controls). Also, it came with a stand, shelves, and a cover. My only complaint is that the thermometer isn't the best, but most people add a better one anyways.

If you don't have an official BGE, your food likely tastes like ****. Enjoy I guess.

Get a job, get a real grill, then you can post in future Catspaw grilling threads and not look like an amateur -- until then, please refrain from "contributing", b/c all you are doing is embarrassing yourself. :100points:
