Wonder if his dad still comes to this board? If so, has Kengera added weight to push at DE starter for next fall or is he still more an OLB?

He does. I've actually seen him around on here more frequently than he used to be on here. Last we all heard, KG is pushing for DE.

I remember reading about him losing a lot of weight, maybe 25#, when he started the S&C program, and then gaining it all back plus another 25# or so when he first started, sounds like he has the work ethic and desire to excel. Also sounds like he has a very supportive and knowledgeable dad. I loved the reasons they chose UK, and hard for me to believe that a lot of players parents don't read these threads but choose to not comment------in part because some of our ignorant posters are so hard on players sometimes.

I love his insights into the program.

KG will push for a starting spot at DE. He is currently 263 pushing for 270.

This is the man that knows better than anybody else on here.

I'd like to see him start there though, for sure. I'm sure he attains that weight though. He has quite a while to add 7 pounds.

I had forgotten about him! He needs to live in the weight room! He will have June, July and August in the palace (Practice Facillty) to get pumped!

Depends how well a person can handle about 9 cans of beer or so a day, I suppose. [laughing]
Seriously though, are you talking about for gaining weight or losing weight? Cause I've heard people say drinking a lot of water to lose weight

Drink water to gain. Wrestlers run around in black trash bags before weighing in so that they lose an extra pound or so of liquid. A good run requires you to go outside before undoing the bag since there'll be a waterfall.

Drinking to lose weight is a more lengthy process. Water helps your metabolism and bodily functions which will allow your systems to work cleaner and more efficiently to burn more calories. This of course takes a lot more time and is more permanent than running off the water weight.

Needless to say, this is the healthier option. Also the one KG will use since it'll get rid of more fat (or stabilize the level) and allow him to bulk up on muscle without as many ill effects.

JMO. I wrestled and understood some basics. I'm not a professional.

JPFisher explained it well, at least, as far as it was ever explained to me.

Me too.

Speaking of wrestling... I honestly believe that if Elam would cycle between a typical wrestling protocol (fasting water & food) for cutting weight (monitored of course) followed by longer periods of normal healthy eating & heavy weight lifting, that he'd be a much improved player by this fall... Stronger, more explosive and with less belly.

Regarding drinking water... 3 liters is probably about right for most people. Just be sure not to over do it, since drinking too much water can be hazardous. Plus, it can flush out too much salt and other minerals.
