call me naive, stupid or whatever but I just don't grasp what safety opting out is supposed to buy you.

OU, and other schools, have clearly shown that their safety protocols are clearly better than a kid being on their own.

So he gets COVID from hanging out at a party or shopping at Wal-Mart, while he could have been playing football for a better chance at a pro career. Hmmmmm.

And I suspect that a player opting out, will lose some credibility in the draft to future NFL teams. With Kennedy, he left the CCG last December with an apparent concussion. This will make it appear that he is protecting from that, which would drop him a lot further.

He is not as talented as Etienne, so not sure where he would rank in NFL Draft. Maybe he has something else going on that pushed him to opt out. Hope some cash slinging Agent did not feed him a line of crap. That has doomed many a player.

I want to feel the same way, brother, but I’m just not that confident that our 20 year olds will play it smart. I see much evidence that college students are ignorant and dangerous. I hope I’m wrong.

This is a pretty good take. Could possibly be that he doesn't feelc comfortable with his team mates knowing that they are are out messing around etc. I hear there are several others that may opt out as well. Brooks like all other players put in an awful lot of time to be the best he can be. Only to be placed in a position to catch the 'rona because someone else isn't following the proper team protocols previously establsihed and defined. It's a weird deal for sure. I wish him the best.

With young, healthy players opting out of sports, here's something that makes you seriously question the validity of this virus. 104 people tested positive with the virus in Seattle after going fishing, but only ONE got sick!

Replace COVID-19 with the FLU and all 104 who tested positive would be SICK!

COVID-19 is looking more and more like the common cold yet it's shutting things down?

The effects of the virus appear to be lasting, even after recovery. Lots of people saying they have recovered, but have permanent damage to their respiratory systems.
Is this real? Does it affect everyone the same? No one knows.
But, a young man who has the potential to collect millions using his athletic abilities, just might not want to take the chance with his health.

At least that’s the spin some doctors are putting on it now

Unfortunately it’s hard to decipher truth from fiction in 2020

That being said, I could see many of OU's players opting out this year.

As I said, no one knows for certain. But, with millions potentially on the line, opting out of one season is a small thing. Not sure I would take a chance, however small I thought it was.
