I’m not sold on this

For good reason. We ran off a hometown kid giving us a discount to basically get a lateral move that we undoubtedly paid a premium.

Will this kid be good? Ya probably, but so would cutter. Plus cutter would've been cheaper and it wouldn't burn bridges with one of the best highschool programs in the state.

I posted it when he made the gamble: this was a chips all in gamble and stein lost.

Stein went all in and lost. This is a fine backup option but not worth paying the premium it undoubtedly took and running off the promising hometown talent that was giving us a discount.
I absolutely trust our coach and absolutely do not trust some random poster on this forum. I’ll take this guy over Boley - appears to be more talented if not as experienced. I guess we’ll see.

Notre Dame fans think highly of him, for whatever it’s worth. That and Nebraska fans seem pretty disappointed.

Care less about Cutter being a hometown kid and who said he was run off? Boley had a very average year and if we’re basing things on talent, then this guy looks like he may have more upside.

Why don’t we wait and let the new QB throw a pass and new coach, coach and game before we decide? You might be right on Cutter, but let’s trust the staff that is doing a great job in the portal so far.

This is a great pickup! This kid can play. Throws it well and is very mobile. 22/26 on the season as a backup to CJ Carr (who’s really good) who he nearly beat out for the starting job. Fans will be pretty happy with him if he winds up being the starting QB
WTF you talking about his stats suck at ND

Take notes CMP

If you have two players you are recruiting, and both are talented, one slightly more than the other…if the more talented guy is non-committal, take the guy who is ready to come and play for the program. Now you got a guy, and focused can be placed elsewhere.

I like the move by Stein to not wait on Leavitt

I hope they are right
Why don’t we see what the guy can do first. I mean ND usually gets pretty good FB players and if other teams are disappointed in the flip it must mean he has some talent. We also have no idea the price tag yet.
dude we are usually aligned on thoughts and I will give Stein the benefit of the doubt but he better hope he turns this guy into something or this is POPE 2.0. He’s running your team in the SEC with a VERY tough schedule

Some of yall need to wake up. Cutter Boley was not a sec qb. look at his td to int ratio. 15 tds and 12 ints. not counting fumbles. his accuracy was not there. this Minchy kid is way better. Just because Boley is aKy kid yall want to prop him up as the next great qb. Myself i trust steins assesment than yours.

Things I like :

~ Not coming off of a lisfranc injury
~ Likely won't cost 20% of our recruiting budget
~ Decently mobile
~ Appears to be accurate

Things I'm not sold on :

~ Not a ton of tape on the guy to really assess his skills

All that said, welcome to UK Kenny!

Also, can we stop the narrative that we ran off Boley? He made a decision to go to ASU. Whether the money was better or not or whether we weren't willing to go up doesn't matter, he chose ASU when the dust settles. I wish him well and won't be making comparisons to our new QB as it's nearly impossible to do.

This guy isn’t a big 10 QB he’s never started or thrown more the 30 passes

This could also be an indication that our coaching staff was operating on a time table and weren't going to allow Leavitt to string us along. I think they likely offered him substantial NIL, pressed him to commit before he left and when he didn't, they picked up the phone and offered the job to this guy. And it appears this guy wasted no time in accepting.
