I refuse to put stock into early rankings but i agree with them. The team looks great and will be even better at full strength. It's the injury bug that worries me

Still way early agreed but fwiw we’ve been #1 since Saturday night. Pomeroy tends to do a pretty good job of updating his ratings after every game.

Our Valpo game results initially bumped us to #2 at game end. Then we dropped to #3 after an Illinois surge. But by Saturday night connections between all the teams had moved us to #1 and Sunday game results didn’t change that.

If we can TCB against Little Brother and Sparty we could enjoy a very nice tenure in that top spot.

If we beat both of them to start this season off, I would for sure feel good about things 🥳. You know Izzo is going to have a Smart well played game. It will be interesting tomorrow night all so, with Kelsey. But we need tomorrow way more for a great mental start for this season. And it's strange, but Louisville seems like it's the first game, even if we are 2- 0.

Waaaaay too early for kenpom - even ole Ken himself said it shouldn’t be looked at till middle of the season

These are more predictable than the pre season polls.

Ken never said that. He said that previous years data doesn't fully go away till mid season. Which is different then these shouldn't be looked at till mid season.

In fact, if you look at the model dianosgtic page, the average error is fairly similar on a month by month basis. Pretty much saying the rankings are fairly reliable as is.

Overall, actual Win % pretty much lines up with the expected. It's a well calibrated system even this early.

Having said that, I am definitely NOT saying that UK is definitely the number 1 team in the nation. Just that overall, if we are towards the top of Kenpom, we probably aren't going to fall off the cliff anytime soon and will most likely mantain a good ranking.

Hope you’re right brother! We haven’t played anyone yet though so let’s see what happens
