I think people are underestimating how much money Michigan has.

They can afford to match anything we throw at them.

This. They are THE number one welthiest public university in the country. They have a 19.2 BILLION dollar endowment.

Compare that to ours at a measly 2.3 Billion. They're literally 9 times richer than us.

Problem is Michigan could easily outspend us. And with NIL it's possible to win a title just about anywhere now. Kills my soul to say it, but why come here where pressure is much higher?
…and yet it’s the same teams winning as before. Nothing has really changed. Hasn’t changed in football, hasn’t changed in basketball. The only thing that hasn’t changed is Mitch Barnhart.

To a point...yes.

Michigan hasn't exactly been dominating lately....mainly because Juan Howard sucked. The point is May is looking good and because of that, UM WILL throw what ever check hey can to keep him. They absolutely have more money than we do. That's a fact.

They can match Kentucky in coaching pay, but I doubt they’d be willing to match Kentucky in NIL spending. Football will always be a priority for Michigan.

People don’t realize that Kentucky is willing to spend top 3 NIL in football money in basketball. That’s gotten attract someone elite.

They beat us head to head for Lendeborg, so they must not be hurting too badly in that department.

We should still be to field a contender most years, but as much as we hate to admit, we may not be alone at the top of the sport’s hierarchy anymore. There’s probably more schools than ever who can compete if they get the right coach in place.

If some how Pope salvages this season, it will buy him more time.

If Pope is done after this year, I think the two names you call are: Bruce Pearl and Dusty May.

If Pope stays for 3-5 years total, Pearl would be too old, then you can consider, Todd Golden, Dusty May, Nate Oates or someone else.

Dusty May was one of those coaches who had Final Four experience and he had a lot of potential. And his potential is correct.

One thing that matters a lot in coaching, is consistency.
The problem with May is Michigan has just as good of an NIL as all the blue bloods and they will pay big money to keep him. I’m not sure he’s one we can realistically get, he really wanted that Michigan job and turned down a lot of offers to get it. We can get most but there’s usually a few we probably can’t. That might be one. Michigan NIL for basketball is top 5 along with UK and he just got there.

"I've got three daughters. They all like it here in Tuscaloosa," he told Bleacher Report. "My oldest, Lexi, is going into her junior year here [at Alabama]. I haven't had to move a ton in my profession, in college. A lot of these guys are moving every couple of years. I'm fortunate I didn't have to do that. I went to Buffalo with Bobby Hurley. I trusted the Hurley family. They're basketball royalty. I didn't want to move my familyhen have to keep moving. We were fortunate we won big and in Year 2 we went to the first NCAA tournament in Buffalo history. I got the head job. So I was there six years. I've been here five. I din't really want to move

"I also felt we just made a Final Four. Greg Byrne is one of the best ADs in the country. I'd love to work with him the rest of my career, to be honest with you," Oats said. "And he took care of me. I'm not the highest-paid coach in the league. I didn't ask for that. But I'm making a lot more money than I'd ever thought I'd make. And they've made it clear they want to keep me here."

"I think we've got a chance to win a national championship at Alabama, and I think it would mean a lot more winning one here than maybe it would be winning one somewhere where they've won with lots of different coaches over a period of time. It's almost expected at a place like Kentucky. If you don't make the Final Four, they're gonna -- you had a disappointing year, to be honest with you. John Calipari is a pretty good coach. He's won a lot of games. He's won everywhere he's been, and they weren't happy. I mean, he won a national championship."

Again, im sure firing a guy after 2 years, one who doesn't also have off court issues like BG, will be super appetizing to tons of coaches
This is meaningless. Many people at UK think he actually would have taken it if actually called. He wasn’t called. This is his “hey recruits UK wants me and I’m staying put” speech. Barnes did similar twice, and he was never even considered. You can’t go by any of that. He keeps talking about UK too, Likely signaling he’s still here if next time you want to call. Calipari, same stuff. I can recruit the best of the best to Memphis, Memphis is where I want to be, he told a crowd days before leaving for Kentucky at Gibson Donuts he’s staying at Memphis and has no interests in Kentucky. I was there. My buddy jumped and yelled what did I tell you dude. I said we’ll see. 3 days later he was accepting the job. He was offered more money to stay and just had a brand new NBA arena lol. There aren’t many places in college basketball where you’re famous nation wide and more important that the governor. Don’t know how many times this must be said. It’s a hella strong pull.

Again I don’t know how many times this has to be said. Coaches do this for many reasons, number 1 he wants everyone to think he was good enough for the UK job if he’s never offered. It’s for recruiting. Mitch didn’t want to interview him because of the murder he knows that. He’s rehabilitating him image. He wants you to believe he could have had Kentucky and a guy as clean as Mitch is okay with him. He’s not going to talk down bama when he might have to stay there for many more years.

Coach speak y’all come on. If he accepts it we learn nothing and say this same stuff the next time and just continue this cycle. I thought everyone learned enough after Calipari.

You realize that the vast majority of coaches in the HOF were either fired or forced to retire before they wanted because they were a shell of what they once were , right?

College basketball coaches knew that Calipari had ONE ncaa tournament win in his last five years. Most of them didn’t respect him anyway.

But keep blaming the fans if it makes you feel better.
It’s amazing how many have no idea how any of this works.

Miller is a very good coach.

Had already signed with Texas before Cal officially rolled out.

Although, I do not remember him being atop any wish/short list around here given his last few years at Zona.
Miller had boatloads of talent at Az and even cheated like the dickens and still couldn’t make a Final 4. He’s no prize for a top program

Michigan got Dusty May and are currently 8-0 and #2 in the country, meanwhile Kentucky hired Mark Pope and are 5-4 and currently unranked.

It bothers me so, so much. The damage Mitch Barnhart has caused is astronomical and may never be fully fixed.
How many trolls are we going to see this year on here.
