We are much more well-received nationally this season. It certainly helps that Pope seems impossible to dislike. It’s as though something in particular changed in the off-season that removed a big reason for the hate to begin with…
So you basically thought he should have played here and would have been one of your favorite players?
Yeah I hated him bc if he had come to UK then Tubby would have had another title probably. Hard to truly hate a player that plays as hard as he did.

Yeah, I'd say hades may have just frozen over. I'll chalk it up to what an above poster mentioned- Mark Pope is hard to hate. He's not only a great x and o coach, he's just a great person and nice guy.
He’s the anti Calipari. Cal was about the most hate-able coach in college basketball since Robert Knight lol.

I always heard Cal was disliked by the referees and I've noticed it seems like Kentucky isn't getting called for as many ticky-tack fouls as in the past. Could Cal not being the coach anymore have anything to do with it?
There is no doubt in my mind littlecreek. And we not only heard Cal was hated by many officials, we saw it with our own eyes, over and over again. His technical fouls and yelling and screaming cost UK multiple games during his tenure. Some of that may have to do with UK, but most of it was just about Calipari.

I honestly don’t care what that douche says he’s about as partisan as a Duke announcer.
I definitely think that’s a large part and having a veteran team that knows how to defend well and listens to instruction better.
And don’t forget, Mark went to a referee symposium in order to better understand their job. You know that earned some respect from them as well
Agreed, I don’t think I’ll ever lose sleep over what that guys says about anything UK. I would prefer if he didn’t like UK.
