Apparently JQ went from a 46% asymmetry strength to a 3% asymmetry strength as of about a month ago (a good thing) and is 20% stronger in his basic full leg functioning than the average same body type/same size NBA player now. Pope still says they will proceed with "extreme caution."
Pope says Noah is a 1.76 points per possession in live play (he's never seen that number before). Chandler leads the team in DIM (Defensive Impact Metric). And Garrison is winning conditioning runs at the end of practice.
AWESOME.
Honestly, not surprised. Chandler has a high motor on defense. Sticks to his guy like his life depends on it.
Having heard little to no great reports about Garrison this off-season (that I recall), this is nice to see. If you aren't the best guy on the court, at least be the most in-shape guy on the court.
I had heard Garrison worked his tail off during the summer to be better conditioned, get stronger, and be able to defend multiple positions. The criticism was that his court vision and passing ability were light years short of Amari's despite tons of work and that his post moves game was still limited. Remains to be seen. We might see quite a bit more 4 out sets this year if that is the case until JQ returns or Moreno makes leaps into heavy rotation use maybe?
Pope also spoke glowingly on Moreno and said he's been the leading rebounder.
