What did UK do to drop a seed sense their 30 point win? Joe is clueless. But the committee sees his forecast.

Lunardi is far from the best.

I follow several bracket Matrix guys on Twitter, and they still have us as the last 3 seed. (They post on Twitter more frequently than the website gets updated).

Win Saturday, we’re probably a 3 regardless. Win Saturday and 1 in the SECT, definitely a 3.

Wonder who some likely opponents would be as a 4 seed? That would be against a 13 seed I think?

So a small conference winner "with a story" - ?

Or Someone like an instate small ball team or a small school that we've played before and struggled with or lost to (smell the cynicism?)

UAB?
Eastern Ky?
Oakland?
St Peters?
Middle Tennessee St?

The loss of Robinson and toll of other injuries have hurt our seeding.
It is conceivable we could still drop another line with more losses.
Highly doubt that. Worst we can do at this point is go 0-2 in Quad 1 games, one of them being Quad 1A. Four seed minimum is a virtual lock imo

I doubt Robinson being injured hurts us in the committees mind. And I would be shocked if they aren’t a 4 at this point. Or a 3.

I was just browsing through conference standings to get a feel for who the mid majors may be too -

The Atlantic 10 is a darn good conference

There are definitely some smaller conferences where the top 2-3 deserve a bid over the 8-10th place major conferences

I understand Pope seeing both sides of the coin for announcing Robinson is done for the season. As well as continuing to acknowledge Kriisa is gone too...

It's either keep the injury quiet and not reveal anything as a "tactical decision" so as the selection committee wont deduct for his absence
or
Face up to it, move forward.

I like and prefer the direct approach here.

Regardless of where we are at RIGHT NOW as a team, even in games where we didn't have Jaxson (and more) we still beat some really good teams head to head and have a quad one win resume that, by the selection committee's own standards, if there is any uniformity to it year in , year out, then when they did the reveal earlier, comparing so many other teams, how far has Kentucky actually fallen?

and if Kentucky beats Missouri, on the road.....

and does anything at all in the SEC tournament ....

They should be a three seed.

Or even could be better ?

Win the whole shindig, blue mist descends. Just like that. Get a 2 seed ?

.... Anyone ?

My gut hasn't decided if Kentucky will actually beat Missouri this weekend. No true gut feeling, which is strange to be so devoid of either a confirmed win or loss within my gut. True toss up game in my book. Usually, in these instances, though, they win if I pick against Kentucky.

Something tells me that they will lose, it's foreordained by the SEC gods. It's another road game. That's fine. Slap that 8 seed on us and let us go. But if we win .... against Missouri..... it sure looks like a 3 seed is pretty much there, it even sounds about right, for how the season has gone.

And if we do well in the SEC tournament ?

The door swings both ways. We could actually improve our seeding, or lower from where we are, wherever that is, right now. That's the truth.

Fun to think about !

Go Big Blue !

The only way we drop to a 5 is if we lose the next two. That's COMPLETELY possible, btw. I don't think we'd for sure be a 5 if that happened, but I also don't think we'd for sure be a 4. I just hope we don't have to find out.

Had us in the Mid West region
1 Houston
2 Alabama
3 Wisconsin
4 Kentucky
5 Maryland
6 St Mary’s
7 Kansas
8 Gonzaga
9 Creighton
wouldnt be surprised at all to see that. I think the steam for an East region with dUKe 1, St. john's 2, and UK #3 isn't there.

Too transparent, know what I mean ?

I'm leaning towards a 4 worst case scenario.... But you never know with the committee. We've been screwed before.

yeah we sure have been. If I'm one of those four number one seeds looking at the bracket on selection sunday, and see Kentucky there, the electric is gonna be palpable. And everyone is gonna be talking about that potential 4 / 1 matchup. I would not want to see Kentucky in my region as a 4 seed this year. Won't be happy to see Kentucky as a 2 seed if we're a 3, either. That's gonna be huge too.

In fact, I think every team is going to be watching where Kentucky ends up this year.

we might just be playing YOU this year !

(I'm looking at you, again dUKe !)

May the blue mist descend once again. March has come !

Still the last 3 seed on Bracket Matrix.. and we lost several of the 5's that people gave us after the Auburn loss.

But, other teams have gained on us.. It's kind of a race between 4-seeds Purdue and TA&M, and the 3-seeds Kentucky, ISU and TTU.

March Madness magic baby !

Something tells me this is going to be a fun tournament to be a Kentucky fan... finally (again)
I would not like my Gators to run into the Cats in the tournament. You guys can beat anyone at full strength and focus. I don’t know why, but I’m pulling for you guys to do well. I kind of like UK’s pouty fanbase. lol

I think Joe sees and hears the committee's thoughts. Joe is the committe's mouthpiece and he personally does not know shvt.

Not if we don’t beat Missouri or win two games in SECT. Honestly, our metrics aren’t three seed right now and we have experienced some leniency from the committee. We can still earn that three though.
I think our metrics support a 3 seed. 18 Quad 1 games, so we’ve played a killer schedule. Roughly 2/3 of our games against Q1 teams. 9-9 against Q1. There are some teams above us who have losing records against Q1 and have played fewer Q1 games.

Furthermore, I believe 13 of those 18 games are Q1A games and we are 6-7 against Q1A teams. So only 3 of our 10 losses have been against Q1B or lower competition.

We are also 1-1 against Q2 competition.

We have absolutely no bad losses (Q3 or Q4).

So I guess we should have played weaker competition, so our Q2, Q3, and Q4 records were better?

Finally, we have done nothing since February 15th (Bracket Reveal) that would pull us down. We were sitting at 10 then. All our losses have been Q1 losses since then. We have beaten the teams we were suppose to.

The SC does whatever they want, so we are at their mercy, but our resume says 3, IMHO. And a loss at Mizzou tomorrow should not change that.

Committee has actually not screwed UK 3 ncaa tournaments in a row (Cal handled the screwing as we all know) so not sure I feel they won't for a 4th straight season.

JR injury will be factored in and used as justification to drop UK a seed line if we lose at Missouri and in the 8 vs 9 sec tourney game. Idk why people think the committee is going to ignore the 0 and 3 finish against ncaa tournament teams to end the season without JR. If that happens we probably don't deserve a 3 anyways (but clearly some of you disagree and that's fine and hope you are right).

I agree with the first half of this. I think the “we get screwed every time by the NCAA” thing is a bit of a misnomer as we have had favorable brackets dating back to 2019 in my opinion.

As far as the second half, I believe the committee no longer considers how “hot” or “cold” a team is going into the bracket. Last ten, last five, last three etc are not metrics on the table when comparing teams. They are looking at raw data, be it the analytics such as KenPom, Torkiv and the like, NET rating, SOS, quality wins, quality losses and so on. That’s why I believe we are at minimum a 4 seed but think we are probably not going to get a 3 unless one of the teams ahead of us take an upset loss, we win at Missouri or leapfrog someone by winning two SECT games.

A&M back up to a 3 seed despite losing 4 of their last 5. I guess beating the number one team in the country carries some clout.
I told everyone that was what was going to happen and why you should have rooted for Auburn to beat A&M but some didn't listen to me and rooted for A&M to win anyway.

I told everyone before we played Auburn that kept saying a loss doesn't hurt us that might be true but also wins over LSU don't help us either. Also I told everyone even if we stay where we are at with an Auburn loss that other teams could win and still pass us by and that is what happened with Texas Tech winning at Kansas and A&M beating Auburn.

I agree. Lose at mizzou and the first round sect game and we could def slide to a 5. At that point you're 20-12 without your best player for the tourney. It's not inconceivable. The guys thinking were locked into a 3 even with 2 losses are a little pie in the sky if you ask me.

That would give us a great storyline if it's correct (which of course it's not). Indiana vs Louisville for the right to play St. John's in Providence. How cool would that be?
