How about a photo until you track down the game?

Game was in Columbia not Lexington
Yep the big performance was in Columbia. The image above was the best pic available on a "Moe Williams-Kentucky vs South Carolina" image search....a very nice shot of a home game no doubt. Regardless, Moe was a heck of a player. I was living in Athens during his tenure and watched him play at Sanford Stadium. UGA fans kept shouting "Watch number 10....get after number 10!" They spyed him all day but he still had a pretty good game. We played them tough, but Bill Curry "iced" Ray Goff on a 4th and goal FG attempt from the one and during the Kentucky time out.....UGA's crowd and players convinced Goff to go for it. UGA punched it in for a TD from the one and we lost a close game.

Remember waking up that morning in a Columbia hotel, flipped on the weather channel and the national map showed the entire country dry as a bone except for one little spot on the map.....Columbia, South Carolina.

And boy did it rain, buckets and buckets of rain, biblical rain. But that just empowered Curry to hold fast to his caveman gameplan and just pound the rock by giving it Moe....again and again and again.

And Moe didn't let him down.

Watched that game and didn't even want to see a pass after the second period. Hines did play at Georgia.

Yes he did....I believe some are getting confused that the thread started with a question about MW's monster dame in a win at USC, and then the conversation morphed into a run down of a close loss at UGA where Moe also performed well (so did Hines Ward).

All hail the Power K!

Moe Williams is one of the first Wildcats I can vividly remember watching. Always one of my favorites.

I'm with you ......mustard. I shouldn't have brought up a second strong Moe Williams game (@UGA) where Hines Ward was the difference for the bulldogs.....even overcoming Ray Goff.

Wasn't that game (at USC, not UGA LOL!) a Thursday nighter? Also, who was the QB? I'm having a brain cramp, but Antonio O'Ferral is who I'm remembering.

No the Thursday night game was the 93 season when we picked off a late pass in the end zone to seal the victory. Pookie Jones was the QB.

The game in discussion was in 95 on a rainy cloudy afternoon in Columbia when Moe went nuts.

I watched that Moe Williams game on TV and it was a show! If memory serves, in addition to 299 rushing he had a long KO return and a huge gain on a screen pass. I thought he had almost 500 total yards.

I was at the UC game at CWS when he ran for 275. I seriously doubt that there were 5000 people in the stands and it was in a sleet/rain. My buddies and I moved down so close that we could hear Curry talking.

I was at that Cincy game. I was about 10 at the time.....one of the coldest games I have ever been to in Commonwealth. Moe was great that day. I believe it was 14 degrees with sleet/snow that day and the wind chill was well into single digits.

Thanks for the correction on the Thursday night game.

I too was at the Cincy game, whenever discussions about "coldest game you ever went to" come up it is always my topper. I went to it by myself and would agree there were barely 5k there. I took bourbon in and decided it was too cold to drink it. LOL!

I remember us sucking that year and had nothing to play for against UC but pride. I remember we kicked off to start the game and somebody nailed the returner with a big hit about the 15 and it was "game on". LOL! One of the very few times I've ever left early. Seems like we were up by 10 or 13 and got a turnover or a 4th down stop with about 3 or 4 minutes left and I decided that we should be able to hang on from there so I headed out.

I remember the South Carolina game well. We had it on VHS and I watched it over and over again. Steve Taneyhill was rocking the power-mullet for South Carolina. Moe was a true mudder, breaking tackle after tackle and running all over the SC defense. I would note, though, that a couple of his big runs came on swing passes that were behind the line of scrimmage. Technically, they were runs, but functionally, they were part of the passing game. Still, pass or no pass, Moe was an absolute freight train that day. Wore that VHS tape out!
