Kentucky with an early 3-0 in Game 1 after a Luke Lawrence double, advanced to 3rd when the Miss State RF Reed Stallman slipped and fell. Montoya sac bunt, drove in Lawrence.
May be the most embarring loss of the year. It’s like the coaches weren’t even trying. In a season full of games with questionable decisions this one takes the cake. From veteran players getting picked off bases to bunting our clean up hitter with two strikes to using bottom guys from our bullpen like Adcock and Skelding when we have a 2 run lead in game 1 of an SEC series. Add all that to a hitting coach who is clearly in over his head and it’s one of the most frustrating seasons I’ve seen in quite a while.
YepIt’s looking like Ammirati going to Georgia to be their hitting coach has been the biggest loss from last years team. We just have so many poor at bats.
Agreed. We really just do a terrible job of situational hitting. Just a horrible weekend all the way around.Just a really disappointing weekend. In what was a really big series for post season hopes the team just didn’t show up ready to play. I know injuries can play a factor but of the guys mentioned Marcy was batting .115 when he was hurt, Hindle .224 and Brown .253. Mingione has had the 3 most successful seasons in school history and is the right man for the job. However he missed on this hitting coach hire. I hope he will realize it and make the correction after the season and not pull a Stoops and put his head in the sand and keep going with what isn’t working
