This story and possibly the outcome of Smiths recruitment would be a whole lot different if Rondo was setting there in Brooks place. What top guard would not want Rondo as a coach.

Brooks is a fantastic recruiter. Was responsible for some of the top guys in the nation going to Baylor. Hard to do your job when you are hamstrung by JMI, your AD does everything in his power to make this program worse, and Pope is doing one of his poetic "beautiful" press conferences, scaring the kids.

He supposedly was but they sure aren’t doing it here and that was before the JMI deal kicked in. Now it seems impossible. I guess we will have to make our roster by dominating the transfer portal with guys who may just wanna get paid and don’t care how they get it.

Because of how well Pope worked the portal last year, I *think* he could work some magic again. I know most don't share my slant on this, but I think Pope does well when his back is up against the wall, and it seems his players feed off it. With perceptions of the program being what they are -- if you believe the rumors -- players might want the chance to turn things around, like they did last year. Some players are that type where they want to be part of rebuilding something.

I hope they can get this JMI contract ironed out so it will allow us to land some top prospects. Hopefully it can be amended.
