Patrick Patterson out for the season with a stress fracture in his ankle.

As much as I don't like Kentucky, I do like watching Patterson. He is D@A's favorite kind of post player.

Gillispie's had a ton of bad luck this year.

The good news for Kentucky is, this probably ends any talk of Patterson bolting after one year.

This is good for us.

Edit:

Apparently I was wrong...

Matchups per Ellis

[W4] Auburn vs. [E5] South Carolina
[E3] Vanderbilt vs. [W6] Ole Miss
[E4] Florida vs. [W5] LSU
[W3] Alabama vs. [E6] Georgia

Then theres Fridays second round:

Auburn/South Carolina winner vs. Tennessee
Vanderbilt/Ole Miss winner vs. Arkansas
Florida/LSU winner vs. Mississippi State
Alabama/Georgia winner vs. Kentucky

UK should advance pretty comfortably.

that UK may put us out in the tourney. Now, not so much. But UK still has to finish as the 2 seed from the East. Now we may see Vandy as the 2. Who knows?

Lots of ifs involved, but...

If UK loses to UT but beats USC and UF to finish 12-4.
If Vandy wins out at Ark, MSU, at Bama to also finish 12-4.

Then they are tied.
TB 1: They split head to head.
TB 2: They would have the same division record.
TB 3: They would both have split against UT.
TB 4: They would both have split against Florida.
TB 5: They would both have swept USC.
TB 6: They would both have swept Georgia.
TB 7: We beat UK but would have lost to Vandy. This assumes we are 1 West. That would give Vandy the 2 spot.

If they finish tied at 11-5, Vandy gets the two on the division record tiebreaker.

to Vandy in the long run?

I was planning on going to the game next week, but apparently I should be going to church.

that means us losing to FL and Vandy......so be it as long as we get the SEC W #1 and KY is the E4 I'm happy. I do NOT want to see UF or Vandy in Atlanta until Saturday or Sunday.

That's crazy. We'd be much better off beating Florida and/or Vandy on the road during the regular season and then facing one of them in the tournament than we would be losing to them in the regular season and facing Kentucky in the tournament. Road wins over top 50 RPI teams have a huge impact on RPI. A neutral site loss wouldn't hurt us nearly as much as a road win would help us.
