I don't know what is more remarkable, that he got a $250k bonus without coaching the winning team or that a $250k bonus was handed out for beating what would have been paycheck-patsy game for Ole Miss in any other context.

I wish he'd coach here, honestly. The entire coaching and player carousel is slimy anyways.... At this point, just win... I'm not saying I'd sell my soul for it, I'm just saying that people in the sport now only care about themselves - so do what it takes to win. I'll sleep just fine at night.

I don't think Spurrier was ever as scummy as Kiffin. I don't like how he ditched on the team mid-season, but I don't think that rises to the level of abandoning your team heading into the playoffs.

I do not want Kiffin in any way, shape, or form .... he gets results but the damage to the overall programs (minus Florida Atlantic and that was part of his rehabilitation time to a mid major (at best) program to get back into big time CFB. Everywhere else, he burned bridges. I recall that even his own brother-in-law, David Reaves, who he hired from USC to TN, learned that he was leaving TN to go to So. Cal. through the press or word of mouth .. not even Lane himself. This man is one who simply cannot be trusted .... think back to BEFORE this year when he would have players fall to the ground (on both sides of the ball) .. this was in front of thousands upon thousands on the field ... imagine what he does behind the scenes when cameras are not rolling and mics are not present .... no, I do not trust this man and would not want my son's playing for him .... I want to win, but not at this cost .....

Kiffin was seriously debating attending the Sugar Bowl last night. He would have been booed out of there. 😂

Kiffin/LSU still not done being first class D**cks.
They are contemplating having the remaining staff at Ole Miss under contract report to LSU this week.
That's right, right before the CFP Semi-Final.

But college football's calendar beckons, as the transfer portal, which has become a quick fix roster-builder for transitioning coaches such as Kiffin, opens on Jan. 2. As such, the Rebels are reportedly uncertain of how many LSU-bound assistants the program will have on its staff in the upcoming CFP semifinal against Miami, sources told Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

Imho, we'd hate Kiffin right up until the minute he hired on here.

Then his antics would be funny, and he'd be "our a-hole". Like Spuurier.
I’ve been a non Kiffin hater for a long time. Wanted Muschamp fired a season earlier to pursue him. He’s become one of those people that’s popular to hate. Most people don’t know why either. For Gamecock fans it’s probably the gas pump thing. Who cares. I didn’t care then. It’s a recruiting line that got out, who knows what we never heard/hear. He’s a solid coach but most won’t admit that because they hate him.

See post 17.

Kiffen is the Floyd Mayweather of college football; good coach but his own worst enemy. Hard pass.

I winner ever kind of person he actually is. Is he like Spurrier who thoroughly enjoyed throwing verbal haymakers and running up the score, bit by all accounts was a good human being? Or is his public persona his true self, a narcissistic jerk?

I get it has nothing to do with winning, but I do think that relationship creates undertones that allow the school to carry on positively when that profession relationship ends.

Agreed. He's a good coach, and we'd be a better team when he left us than when he arrived.

He built Ole Miss into a playoff semifinals team, and he'll probably do the same to LSU in short order.

We hated Spurrier right up until he signed with us too. Some of our fans hate him for the way he left. I bet not many of those fans would give back the 5-peat or that 3 year run.

I liked him to even at Florida. Even got a Florida hat as a teen and gained a rooting interest in them because of Spurrier.

You’re absolutely correct no one would give anything back from those runs. He left in a crappy fashion indeed but most tenures don’t end well. So far no coach’s at SC’s has (At least not any in my lifetime). He should not have listened to himself and not Tanner and retired after 2014.

Not necessarily true. Spurrier is not as loved in SC as some may think, especially now that he’s ditched SC for his “beloved” Florida. The way he left was his decision and his alone. Tanner did not make the decision for him. Spurrier made his own decision to come to SC and he made it when he left.

Also, Spurrier was an arrogant, out-spoken celebrity but the NFL cooled his jets, and he found out the college entertainment world had relegated him to has-been status by the time he came to SC. In his own words, SC was the only school to offer him a head coaching position. That had to bring him down to earth to some degree.

For those of his ilk, success feeds their arrogance, and Spurrier never achieved the level of success at SC that allowed him to reach his previous status. His barbs were tempered.

But even Spurrier at his height was no Kiffin. Kiffin has severe personal faults that compound his narcissistic behavior. Spurrier came off as a braggart who didn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. Kiffin comes off as someone who cares only about himself and his welfare. There is a substantial difference.

There are plenty of reasons not to like him.. I may be the exception but I wouldn't want him running my progam.

So is it necessarily true for you or not. None of that says otherwise. It’s just stuff about Spurrier that we all know.

Returning to one’s alma matter, especially one where a few significant life events occurred, is not ditching SC. He should have handled the departure better, no one argues that.

Also, I never said Tanner made a decision for him. Again- Spurrier should have listened to Spurrier. He wanted to retire after 2014. He and Tanner spoke about it, Tanner wanted him to stay. Spurrier allowed himself to be convinced. That is a thing that happened. Never said Tanner decided anything for him.

I saw post 17. Is that why you hate him or because he’s his own worst enemy?
Hate? Don’t recall using that word to describe Kiffen. I hate our all black uniforms and blue cheese; I think Kiffen and certain others are petulant arse wipes that can’t help themselves but are deep down probably decent people. Note: that does not apply to Floyd Mayweather; he’s all in. Why are you interested?

I used the word hate, a few times. You responded to that post in which I was talking about people not knowing why they hate Kiffin.
