NU has applied for planning commission approval to rebuild the softball facilities. From the project summary:
The applicant, Northwestern University, is requesting approval to demolish the existing grandstands at Drysdale Field and construction of a softball stadium building in their place. The building would increase spectator capacity at Drysdale Field from approximately 800 spectators to 1,326 spectators. The stadium building would include upgraded spectator seating, locker rooms, team areas, a hospitality suite, storage space, and a press box. Fixed stadium lighting and an amplified sound system are included in the proposal. No new parking areas are proposed, however, modifications to the parking lot striping in the western parking lot will increase total parking capacity from 1,408 spaces to 1,419 spaces. The proposal requires Minor Planned Development Adjustment approval, which must be reviewed by the Planning & Development Committee and requires final approval from the City Council.
