I want this guy as our HC if Stoops doesn't work out. He has quite the resume for a young coach and is brilliant with QB's. This guy is a star in the making.

He's been changing assistants like most of us do shirts. He's had sweeping changes to his staff each year. He is a good offensive mind and QB coach but we'll see if he's cut out to be a head coach. He had the benefit of inheriting a quality offense that Brown had built with players that perfectly fit his style of play when he got there
He recruits Texas at his alma mater. He is not coming to UK unless global warming makes Lexington a beach front city.
Now, if his old boss lost his job, it might be interesting if he would consider returning to A&M.

His D gave up 42 a game in '15 and in the 50s last night. But I guess if you're entertaining to some that doesn't matter. Still, he's not leaving the state of Texas.
He got a taste of what life is like in the SEC last night. he might not want to coach in this league. A bunch of passing yards, but around zero on the ground will not get it done here, nor will giving up 6 or 7 hundred on the ground.
no thank you... he has been worse than Tubberville was there (whom he replaced) and recruited worse too across the ball from the side he is familiar with (Hal Mumme Style)
He built his team to compete in his conference. LSU wasn't a good matchup. Although he did beat Arkansas earlier this year.
Think about that, 56 points to LSU. Not sure why anybody would want him as their HC.
He's already coached in this league. His offense led the league in rushing, passing, total and scoring offense the one year he was OC at A&M.
And he had another taste of the league when his team won earlier this year in Fayetteville.
No thank you. All pass/no run/no defense = Hal Mumme II. Been there, done that, witnessed the ***-kickings. I don't get the fascination of some fans with the true Air Raid offense, i.e., throw the ball 50+ times a game. How is getting smashed 56-27 (take a look at the UT v. UK games while Mumme was here for several examples) entertaining? While LSU's offense is very vanilla, somewhere between the two is where I'd like to see UK's offense.
Texas Tech is the UK of their conference and I would be happy if Stoops had thar conference record.
I was wrong on a couple of points. It was NC who gave up 600 plus yards last night. TT gave up 300 plus on the ground. And Kingsbury has coached in SEC.
Agree. Mumme's whole plan was to just outscore the opponent and I know he used the term "holding serve" a lot. Scoring lots of points is fun, but if you have zero defense against good teams you are going to lose. The one thing I liked most about him though is he always played to win. He didn't punt on 4th and 3 when down 21 points. I don't think we ran a successful trick play (did we even run any?) this year. Mumme would run 2-3 successful ones in one game. He loved the on-side kick also.
Texas Tech is not the UK of that conference. Another coach did MUCH BETTER at TX Tech in this same century.
He's a Lone Star State lifer...born there, played at tech, coached Houston and Aggies...
he's not going anywhere unless he's fired...which won't happen if he wins 7-8 games a makes a bowl every year...
as others have pointed out...he's from the D doesn't matter school...and that's fine in the B12 because its a shootout league...but in the SEC you have to devote a lot of time to recruiting the best D athletes and then developing them...
I think we saw about what would happen to him in the SEC...the big boys can score with anybody...and they can also make plays and gets stops on D...
...and if he did leave it wouldn't be for Kentucky...that wouldn't even be a lateral move...

Not even close. Every coach since the mid 80's has had an overall winning record at Tech. They had 22 winning or .500 seasons in conference between 1986 - 2009 (that's 22 out of 25 years without a losing conference record). During that same time period, we had TWO, and we cheated to get those.
